Somehow worse than what I remembered. Still a solid album, maybe I haven't had enough pussy to comprehend it's greatness.
On "Young Americans", David Bowie dips his feet into the peaceful waters of soul music, and creates something that brings so much peace to the soul - you'd fall asleep. It's incredible how an album that has so much going for it, so much passion put into it, can sound so dull and boring. But it's passionate alright, I can see this being a staple in the sex songs market... which could be one of the reasons I don't get it.
Would you look at that, everybody already moved on from these dudes, well, that's the fate of these gimmick bands. But this one is still better than most. Their music is, although theoretically complex and avant-grade, very easy going and digestible, which is surprising looking at all those tags and that also explains the crazy popularity they had for a while.

Wonderful background music. Sonically, it's basically a single big song but that's not a bad thing. Very relaxing.
Sounds like my dead uncle rising from his grave to prophecise the end of the world. Weirdly atmospheric. As for the songwriting... well it's Leonard fucking Cohen, he was already an established poet before the making of this album. Can't go wrong with that guy.
