Somehow worse than what I remembered. Still a solid album, maybe I haven't had enough pussy to comprehend it's greatness.
On "Young Americans", David Bowie dips his feet into the peaceful waters of soul music, and creates something that brings so much peace to the soul - you'd fall asleep. It's incredible how an album that has so much going for it, so much passion put into it, can sound so dull and boring. But it's passionate alright, I can see this being a staple in the sex songs market... which could be one of the reasons I don't get it.
Would you look at that, everybody already moved on from these dudes, well, that's the fate of these gimmick bands. But this one is still better than most. Their music is, although theoretically complex and avant-grade, very easy going and digestible, which is surprising looking at all those tags and that also explains the crazy popularity they had for a while.
I mean, you really can't ignore these guys with that crazy costume, portraying themselves as fucking aliens and that ... read more
Wonderful background music. Sonically, it's basically a single big song but that's not a bad thing. Very relaxing.
Sounds like my dead uncle rising from his grave to prophecise the end of the world. Weirdly atmospheric. As for the songwriting... well it's Leonard fucking Cohen, he was already an established poet before the making of this album. Can't go wrong with that guy.
Had a really fun time, although I'm unable to recall a single thing of significance that may have happened. Still, a good, comfortable listen with those dragged out dreamy vocals.
Wow, that was great. Cool, relaxing and charming yet engaging and unpredictable. changes its tempo like twice, sometimes played solo, sometimes unison, and even passed through different instruments in sliced up phrases and then that abstract drum solo. All that happened in the title track, which remains the highlight of this album. Undeniable classic.
On Bleachers' 5th studio album, we see them doing exactly what they've been doing for more than a decade - putting out a repetative, generic, boring indie pop album with large chunks of cheese, although that cheese happens to be right up my alley. You'll forget anything that happened, if anything happened, instantly after it happened, if something happened. I don't know what happened, that's how forgettable the experience was, but had a relatively great / fun time.
Ah, exactly the cheese I was looking for. Very british, grand and exagurated. Super fun. Granted, not for everyone, this level of cheese could be fetal to many, procceed with caution.
The music itself is pretty mediocre, but holy shit his out of the world performance carries the fuck out of it. Man must've gotten so much pussy, the sheer energy present is something else. THIS is charisma, his control over the crowd. Playing those keys as if possessed, even a dead man would turn and dance in his grave from the energy he could generate. I'm straight, but even then I'll have to think twice if he invited me to sleep with him after that mesmerizing performance. ... read more
Nice collection of sounds we have here but that's about it. Everything else, be it the songwriting or whatnot, is unremarkable to say the least. Was expecting more considering the legacy behind this album, with pitchfork giving it a 10 and the general consensus of this being a life changing masterpiece, but well, it is what it is. Probably the band's most experimental work, but relatively speaking, it could barely be called experimental. The digestible experimental type, I guess. If I ... read more
The Strokes' debut album, now who doesn't know about The Strokes, especially nowdays with their ever increasing popularity. In the sea of nepo-babies, they're always named as THE exception, among precious few. Sticking out like a 9 inch dildo hanging from a chain in my apartment's living room. Man, I wish I had a 9 inch dildo hanging from a chain in my living room. Overseeing all who shall enter.
I don't know when this strange fascination began, but I've always ... read more
Well, you know the guy from the S&G duo, as always, amazing songwriting.
A very easy going and peaceful record. Almost transcendental. The flow is perfect. Album starts off with on a depressing note, about a mother contemplating suicide to reunite with her dead son, sung in an angelic voice as if hiding all that sadness. Then we get to my favourite track of the album, "Duncan", which blasts all that depression away with it's cheeky humorous tone (oh, and love the flute on ... read more
Sounds like the 90s alright. Dated, stuck at that very specific timeframe. But well, that could be charming in itself, I guess.
Was turned away at the very start cause of her vocals. They're annoying, and cringe at times tbh, but got used to them so not that big of a deal. Still great tho, she brings out a magnitude of emotions and does mostly well portraying all of them.
The song-writing... uhm, is a mixed bag. Super lame and bland at times (like in "Right Through You" she ... read more
Sigh, at their absolute creative peak. This has long transcended metal, they're pushing music to fucking lightyears away and yet somehow making it a very pleasant listening experience. Literally had multiple eargasms listening to this album and mind you this is my first time using that word to describe music. Fucking tentacles crawling on my brain.
They've blended, transformed, molested, patched, fucked and sewed musical genres like nobody else. There's progressive rock, jazz, ... read more
Everything I could've asked for, and more. There's space, robots and anime girls.
It's upbeat, majestic, goofy, quirky with that very happy twee sweetness while still being melancholic. Sadness buried inside the cute music soup of whatever amalgamation of genres it contains - can't narrow down to a few really. The quirky ideas with those majestic instrumentations create a unique atmosphere. Like you're isekai'd into one of those anime soap operas, with robots and ... read more
