Individually, the songs work in their unpolished and raw style, but with next to zero variation it quickly became a tiring listen. They were clearly working in on their craft… or maybe not. I haven’t heard the rest of their discography. I’ll come back to edit and let you know.

There's a magical simplicity to this album that I think takes every listener by either shock, surprise or awe. It doesn't matter whether you're a long time music critic or a casual reviewer online.

A state-of-the-art electro-bible that would go on to inspire many trashy, sexual pop bibles. Despite being over 40 years old as of typing, this record still sounds immaculate at points, with layer upon layer of icy synths. Of course the lyric material cannot be forgotten either. Extremely dated, stale production (for the most part) and some really clunky lyrics stop this from getting anywhere near pop bible status, but in a cute way it does stand as vintage time piece for its era, as not only were they the soundtrack to the 2010s (the album was big, y'all don't need me to remind you), but they also carry the essence of that time (that's not entirely a good thing seeing as the 2010s was the worst decade for pop music arguably since the 1950s ... read more
A understated sampler of what the Purple thing was to offer the world, though you would never be able to tell. A lot of this album really plays it safe, delving into cheesy tropes and pretty lifeless drivel. There are a few moments of bliss though: 'Soft and Wet' was his first example of him towing the line between sexy and obscene, and doing it perfectly. I also love how straight up cute 'Crazy You' is.
