Ok, so I am not super familiar with Robyn's music besides her few big hits, such as "Dancing On My Own" and "Call Your Girlfriend". And, to be honest, those two songs are not my favorite, mostly due to Robyn's vocals.
Going into this album, I was hesitant but still hopeful about whatever Robyn was going to serve me. I must say, I am impressed by this project. It is very streamlined, consistent, and such a well-executed, simple, and fun dance-pop record. Since the ... read more
Wow. This is a really bland and uninspired album from Zara Larsson. I wouldn't say she ever had personality-filled pop anthems, but to see her success rise once again following such a mid release is astonishing.
What started as a somewhat decent start with "Midnight Sun" and "Blue Moon" quickly faded as genericism, predictability, and outdated instrumental palettes came into the spotlight. I feel the whole record is predicated on the notion of Zara wanting to have her ... read more
I'm not even gonna lie, I found this record from Anthony Fantano and thought I'd give it a try as he really seemed to enjoy it. This, coupled with an emphasis on psychedelic neo-soul, made me eager for the journey I was about to embark on.

I wasn't expecting to be impressed by this at all. In fact, I went into this listen completely blind, as I have never listened to a James Blake track before. I am unsure if his past work is similar to this, but wow, this album surprised me, to say the least.
With a mixed bag of pitched-up vocals, R&B beats, ballads, and delicately emotional pianos, this album truly has it all. On one side of the record, tracks like "I Had a Dream She Took My Hand", "Trying Times", ... read more
This is an interesting one for sure. I have about six years under my belt as a Lana Del Rey fan, so I love hearing records like this, as it is raw, unfiltered, and uncooked. I can see the markings of the style she would become known for start to blossom here, and, as a fan, that is extremely intriguing. Testing the waters of both dark and almost "trashy" indie pop bops and chamber pop singer-songwriter ballads, we see quite an all-encompassing promise to what Lana would soon come to ... read more
