Sci-fi sky has a clear sound and identity but the sounds gets gradually more mundane as time goes on. The occasional spark appears but exciting moments are few and far between. Stellar musicianship overall, but boring nonetheless.
Descartes way more recognition. Beatitude soft spoken vocals marinate the gentle strings here as Neofolk elements add a bit of mystique and a strong sense of romanticism to the album. Male vocals are a tiny but underwhelming but the flaw can be ignored due to volume of the male singer not being particularly high. The flute is masterfully used to elevate the sorrowful mood of ‘The Hours’ ace creates moments of which I can only describe are of pure beauty.
‘Elllergy’ is a hybrid of Irish traditional music(more broadly Celtic due to Scottish inclusion) and a more down tempo indie electronic style. The electronic music is fairly calming and the placement of block chords and subtle percussion wisely supports the leading instrument of the Uilleann pipes. A neat, tidy album which fails to do anything remarkable. It still has a pleasant compilation of sounds. Komachi makes you appreciate the small things but fails to do anything broader or more ambitious.
Nothing spectacular but enjoyable nonetheless. ‘The Totemist’ presents weird ghost like vocals over the sound of grounded, percussion heat Melodie’s. There is an avant-garde element to the music which gives it and air of originality and mystique. Some songs blend into each other and don’t create much of an impression on the listener.
