Primus Ranked

Primus - Frizzle Fry

Just their most consistently excellent record, great song after great song. It's fair to call it a bit homogenous in sound, and I do think this Primus is not at their most creative here, but everything in these songs works so well.
Primus - Pork Soda

The first half of Pork Soda probably is Primus at their very best for me. That run of tracks (Mud through Nature Boy) beats any other run of tracks in their discography. Also, I would say this point is my favorite point for the band from a creative standpoint - there's some really cool sounds on this record. However, the second half really drags it down. I used to think it was flat out bad - it has grown on me a lot, but it still weighs the album down in pacing. Still a great record, just frontloaded a bit.
Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese
3.

Just a really really consistent record. The sound on Seas isn't necessarily my favorite out of all of Primus' albums, but the songs are so well made it doesn't really hurt the record. Lots of songs have grown on me, and the album sounds really well as one unit. Only criticism is that compared to Frizzle and Pork, there aren't that many real standout gems for me - I only really consider Tommy the Cat to be in that category from this record. Still great.
Primus - Tales from the Punchbowl
4.

At one point, I actually thought this was in Primus' top 3. I've changed on that, but Punchbowl's still pretty cool. It's a great first half, Professor Nutbutter is probably my favorite track from here, but after that it sort of loses itself in the punch I guess (outside of Electric Grapevine). It has some cool ideas though, and I still like the album. Probably could go down to a 7/10 on relisten.
Primus - Green Naugahyde
5.

Pretty solid? I dunno, this album seemed fine to me. Nothing was atrocious, and I had some fun with every track. Nothing much to talk about. Standout was Last Salmon Man.
Primus - Antipop
6.

Antipop has cool moments on it. Lacquer Head is cool, Electric Uncle Sam is kinda neat, but if I could say one thing about this album is that it really got exhausting. So many sounds, so many ideas thrown together, and an hour runtime really make this album a drag. Plus, I really didn't have much fun in the second half. I see why people could love it though, it has a lot of off the wall energy that Primus is known for. I'd say Naugahyde was just less draining of a listen, which is why it scores above it for me.
Primus - Brown Album
7.

Brown Album's just kind of weird. I remember it took 3 attempts for me to listen to this the whole way through. It's just sort of middling, it feels like it doesn't really progress at times. I liked Fisticuffs, and there were neat ideas on Beef and Golden Boy from what I recall, but this one just didn't do much for me.
Primus - Primus & The Chocolate Factory with The Fungi Ensemble
8.

I will say, the idea of this album certainly fits Les Claypool. And I do think it had the potential to be pretty wild. This was not that. It didn't end up boring me as much as I thought, but due to it being more of a score, Primus doesn't really get its chance to shine much. There were some interesting vocals and instrumentals here and there, but not much more for me. The best parts of this are when the weirdness has some ironic enjoyment, otherwise it's just boring. I initially had this as a 4 before bumping it up, for reasons.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's a 4.
Primus - The Desaturating Seven
9.

This was the album that (initially) made me bump up Chocolate Factory. This album sort of frustrates me. Every song went in one ear and out the other. The album is so... straight laced, its weirdly very normal, which is something I can't really see Primus doing. I get the appeal, but for a progressive rock album featuring Les Claypool, I was not having a lot of fun. Again, some stuff sounded cool, but its all fuzz.

EDIT: The Trek is probably the best song on it, but it only has brief flashes of quality for me.
