I am beyond confused as to what the hell I just listened to, but there are bits and pieces of it I really like, and bits and pieces I hate. What this album could use is a little better mixing and sidechain, and then I think it'd be great, but in its current form (for me at least) it needs a little bit of work.
Pretty standard Disciple track, but it really has no main flaws. Great job by both artists here.
If you're going to make a half serious and half joke album, I'd hope there would be significant differences between both halves. Unfortunately, the lot of this album is a pile of slop. The only tracks that are meant to be funny and somewhat are are the last two, the rest of the attempts are just not good.
I mean, the last bit ain't my thing, but the first drop is kinda cool. Not really a huge fan of this one or anything. It's almost there, just needs a little more oomph imo.
Y'all're really hating on this? I'm a sucker for 2010s brostep/moombahcore/complextro/whatever the fuck. In my objectively wrong opinion, this is actually a great song. Wish it was on Spotify and not just Soundcloud though.
I'm not really too into dubstep anymore, but for me, this sounds super unique and tickles my brain in a pretty weird but good way. In my opinion, Ray Volpe's often quite hit or miss, but this one's more in the middle.
We Butter The Bread With Butter is back and sounding more animalistic the ever. This song is an absolute sucker punch to the face of a metal track, with unmatched drumming, heavy riffs, insane vocals, and just an off-the-charts vibe. As if the original wasn’t good enough!
Thanks @LinkyDinky for the rec!
Although a lot of AOTY user albums don't fit my taste, this one definitely doesn't. However, this album is executed very well, and I like how the vocal work isn't annoying and the album isn't trying to be cool and edgy and dark or whatever, and that it's just a laid-back chill rap/pop/whatever project, as this approach actually sounds great.
This is pretty standard as far as the album goes, portraying a lot of the same themes as the full album itself, but the chorus could be a little heavier or something. The screaming is done very well here though, so the song has that going for it, as well as some great instrumentation all around.
Edit: I posted this review literally 2 minutes ago, who the hell liked it?
As much as I like the song, the "Berlin, Berlin!" vocal sample gets really annoying after like the first minute. The bridge is insane though, and the vocal sample makes it feel a lot more full, so that's at least something going for it.
This song confuses me... like... a lot... in a good way though.
Any time WBTBWB (or any metalcore band for that matter) makes a metalcore song with some type of hardstyle-adjacent parts, it automatically makes the song 10x better. I love this song in every way possible, and the cover art is yellow, so that's a huge plus.
I'm usually not a fan of acoustic versions of tracks, as they tend to be just way worse than originals, but I actually kinda like this one. The screaming hits extra hard here.
This is so unbelievably underrated, easily one of the best on the album. The entire song is pretty catchy, and it's a very solid track overall.
Genesis 1:3, "And Megadeth said, 'Let There Be Shred,' and out came thrash metal or something". I'm paraphrasing here of course.
I Don't Care (haha get it? I'm so funny, original, and quick-witted, right? Yeah, that's totally what everyone thinks.) about how cringy this song is, I still love it nonetheless. The drumming and guitars especially are really good here.
Even though Dave's vocals are getting pretty subpar as he's 64 years old, the rest of this song is absolute gas.
As sad as it is to see these legends finally stop after a long legacy of fame and performances, they went out on a very high note, and at least they went out on their own accord. Although Dave's voice is less impactful as it once was, this album's instrumentals make up for it. His voice sounds adequate on The Last Note though. This album does a great job at making closing statements for the band, and It's a great note to end off of.
Just an all-around well produced song with great kicks, the last drop especially is really good.
