I acknowledge that this is a really well made album with some great songs, but it’s not one I really want to return to that often. Just not fully my thing. That’s ok though!!
Listened to this in the car after an exhausting day and drove around town. It was the most calming experience of my life low key.
Although a bit too short, Strictly 4 The Scythe is packed full of hard hitting tracks.
Despite WILLOW having clear talent, petal rock black is a very underwhelming release, with most of the album being unfinished.
Aside from a few interesting ideas, Costelloe doesn’t create many memorable moments on this album. Despite a few cases of interesting production and song writing, most of it was pretty mundane. Although it did pick up towards the end, I still left the experience wondering “was that all?”
Some of these songs are pretty promising but god damn “Dumb .” is so hard to listen to holy shit
DON’T BE DUMB was never going to be as good as an eight year long wait; HOWEVER, Rocky reemerges with a new and vibrant sound that creates some pretty memorable moments. Even if it’s not as experimental or as pushy as I wanted it to be, Rocky finds a new space in rap that I think works really well. There are a lot of really great track and NO bad ones, which is a feat most modern rap albums can’t reach- at least for me. I am very pleased with this release.
