Australua Hunt 16: Fresh off the presses, ij lora's second EP Damocles keeps the core fundamental attributes of Weak Saint whilst going in some different directions. Its less delicate and dreamy, with more dance and EDM influences coming through. In contrast to Weak Saint which I felt was a consistent album, Domocles is mixed bag quality wise.
The best songs on the EP are better than their debuts material. I'd describe Damocles as an album of two halves really, with the latter half ... read more
Australia Hunt 15: I've found some obscure artists but this one does take the cake, I'm pretty much the only person on the planey to have listened to this. Reveiwing obscure artists like this does feel a little weird, I have considered just not scoring it but I think there's something about logging and sorting a large catalogue of Australian albums on here that appeals to me.

Australia Hunt 14: Made a list of Aussie albums to burn through, reckon I'll stop at 25. First up is Dress-Ups from Sydney artist Hatchling. Trip Hop + Dream Pop = Straight heat. Really unique project, with broad influences that reflect the diverse background of it's creator. Its a record I've been playing through frequently for about a week now because everytime I do I pick out some new small detail that I missed. It's a breezy 6 track 35 minute runtime, the songs are lengthy at generally 6 minutes a pop but none of them ever feel like they drag for a second. Very diverse record sonically, yet keeps a consistent ... read more
Austrlia Hunt 13: Surpising nobody, I first found Vaudeville Smash by the insane football dance banger Zinedine Zidane. The late Les Murray lists a bunch of the best footballers on the verses over a funky snyth instrumental before the band takes over the chorus to glaze Zidane. It's one of the weirdest songs I've ever heard in my life, but I eventually succumbed to adding it on my playlist and haven't regretted it for a second since. It's incredibly campy but the ... read more
