Continuing with his previous work titled ''No Shape'', in which he explored the liberation of the body and elevated his love for his partner to a divine plane; in ''Set My Heart on Fire Immediately'', Hadreas manages to take this idea to another level and overcome it: It's an emotionally intense work; he experiences the loss of time and the blow of aging in songs like ''Whole Life'', an overwhelming sadness where you can't manage to feel anything else in ''Describe'', he allows herself to boast ... read more
Called the end of the 'Music for Cars' era, The 1975 brings us a 1 hour and 20 minute album, which can easily be passed on for an eternity. This work, which promised to be the most risky and abundant in experimentation by the musicians, turned out to be an amalgam of disordered sounds, not very innovative lyrics and a concept that after the first 10 songs becomes tedious. Despite the fact that the album started well, with songs like ''The 1975'' and ''People'' that bring unusual issues for them ... read more
An album full of marvelous songwriting but with a production so boring and monotone that it makes you forget about anything else.
Mediocre album, Jojo doesn't even try to give us something innovative this year, this album repeats the same R&B sounds from the 2010's, making the impression that you are listening to the same song over and over.
Bon Iver set out for this album to take the influences of artistic movements such as surrealism and impressionism and adapt them to their music, and it can be said that they succeeded: they offers us a job full of honesty, which takes us on a journey of strong emotions at the same time that it allows us to be enchanted by a production that makes us imagine a journey through the thoughts and feelings of the band, in a constant change between the ordinary and the unique.
The 17-year-old artist portrays her fears, insecurities and weaknesses the way someone of her age would do it;
naive, disruptive and immature, each of the songs allows us to glimpse the semi-innovative essence that she had allowed us to experiment on her previous job. Although I consider it setback compared to what was previously seen by the artist.
Manic by Halsey takes us on a journey through the mind of the person behind the image of this artist, with constant chaos characterized with emotions such as frustration, regret, ecstasy, and loneliness; the singer uses this work to free herself from everything that prevents her from moving on, showing herself to us without fear to the world and above all,
achieve that growth that you can see she craves so much. It is definitely the singer's best work to date.
In her fifth album, Lana del Rey elegantly manages to sing about the freedom that the American dream grants, the nostalgia for a country that falls into decline and the ecstasy that love produces and how it is so easily lost. In Norman Fucking Rockwell!, we see the singer putting together romances with countless men, each one more different than the previous one, and how they leave a permanent mark on her; glamour fantasies and dreams come true are embodied in songs like California and The Next ... read more
The New Abnormal manages to correct the mistakes made by the band in Comedown Machine, taking a 180 degree turn and providing us with an album full of amazing vocals by Julian, an overwhelming production, somewhere in between the sound by The Voidz and the old sound of the band, and a songwriting more than remarkable. The Strokes has made us wait for 7 years, and managed to meet expectations.
''Chill but kinda sad'', that's the definition that Sophie Allison makes of its own music, and it's the most accurate thing to say about it. In Color Theory, she manages to surpass her songwriting of her previous album, and give us some material that makes us feel her blue sadness, and at the same time make us visualize a whole range of colors while listening to each song. Also she suceeds on making a nostalgia athmospere honoring the pop-rock of the 00's with the use of electric guitars. Her ... read more
Rina Sawayama manages to top her debut EP by bringing in the most complete pop album of the year to date. Each song on the album feels like a different adventure, with songs with heavy-rock and J-pop influences, she manages to maintain the cohesion between the album; the quality of the lyrics is decent, however, the singer shines more because of the production than for anything else. This work feels 100% Rina, the singer managed to find her place in music and did it masterfully to be her debut ... read more
Fetch the Bolt Cutters is an unmatched journey from start to finish. His production, full of bombastic and unusual sounds in music, accompanied by Fiona's masterful composition, allows us to glimpse part of his life and his relationships with women. It is not the most digestible work for the ear of the majority, but without a doubt it shows the talent of the singer and it is an excellent work for which it was worth waiting for 8 years.
