Dean Blunt's sequel to his critically acclaimed 2014 release Black Metal is one of the most enjoyable releases of 2021 so far.
While Black Metal was a sprawling, expansive release featuring ambitious 10+ minute tracks, Black Metal 2 is a shorter, more concise release that leans on strings and guitars. Not a single song on the project is over 4 minutes, but it manages to capture Black Metal's intoxicating sound regardless.
