First listen: as always with Mitski, it usually takes me multiple listens to fully get into her new stuff. I think this album shares some good qualities from throughout her discography, but lacks anything remarkably special. However, this is a very easy listen and feels like it's better suited for background music. The lyrics at times aren't great, but work in some songs. The sound in this album saves it. I'm not sure if I see the hype in calling this one of the best albums in 2025, but I can see why people love this album.
