It was weird for me, to say that I was genuinely hyped for this new Killers record, because to put it simply I have not been impressed by The Killers discography since after Sam's Town but it is due to my loved of their first two record which has brought this urge to listen to this record instantly to see if this band could go back to those days.

Well, firstly this does seems next and extension and return to their more Sam's Town sound, that Heartland pop rock which can be closely linked to Bruce Springsteen and even though I love that record I can now see why people don't like it because it sounds like Bruce Springsteen record. Imploding The Mirage sounds exactly like a Bruce Springsteen record. Now, obviously this isn't inheriting bad for me if so I wouldn't adore Sam's Town as much as I did and to be fair I didn't find this record bad either but, after finishing this record 3 times i was left feeling the same, why would i Listen to this over Sam's Town or Bruce himself, Yes, their is a more New Wave Synthpop nostalgia throughout the record but I often felt this was more of attempt to get on the radio then anything else.

Now, is this record bad? No. Simply, no. It is well made, and the production is nice and the songs can be catchy. However, many the song don't carry that same emotional weight nor the impressive story telling which the band was so good back in their inception and with the stadium pop rock sound which the band has repeat over more than a decade i can't help but say so many of these tracks like a majority of the songs the band has put out over that period just come off as forgettable and way too safe.

That is simply the biggest issue with this album and with The Killers for about 12 years. Even though sometimes they had good songs and song i enjoy they're albums are way too safe and never takes those risks and Imploding The Mirage is the embodiment of that over 12 years of built up. If feels many lifeless when you compare songs on this to For Reasons Unknown, Mr. Brightside, When You Were Young etc. Yes you could argue many of those songs are overrated but you can't deny that had that ability to emotional connection and tell a great story which could touch many and I just feel The Killers are trying to always hint that mark all the time but forget that they have to stand out and be more than just radio friendly to achieve that

Ultimately, Imploding The Mirage plays it too safe and often feel like only the outer shell of The Killers who were once beloved by many as then attempt to get many to play their songs but not necessary for them to for in love with them. I simply, don't gain any true raw emotional feeling of this record than simply wanting to play Sam's Town again and reliving and experience all my emotion and experience with that record again
