Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards - Insomnia
75

This is considered one of his best albums by the community, and I do like it, although think it suffers from production. There are some great and iconic sounds in this one and even has quite indubitably his best song, "Gestapo," which is like a 10/10 song you've gotta check it out. Some parts are rather bland but some parts definitely shine. Kind of a display of all sorts of feels the bastards are capable of, going from a song like Gestapo to Insomnia (my faves off the album that ... read more

Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards - One Big Beautiful Sound

Yeah these songs are BANGERS! This was my intro to JMPB (of whom I'm now a huge fan of) and I'm happy it was. It really sets up the JMPB feel of sort of piano-rock and jazz-rock. I think it's really consistent and there's not a song that I greatly dislike on here. It's just fun all around and love the subtle depressing lyrics in the middle of ":D" music.

Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards - Rapture Waltz

I was here to anticipate this album and got to see the pre-release tour!! It opens with 3 bangers in that being Fake Me Out, Oh, Songbird, and Everything Stays which are so well crafted. And what a cool concept, I mean, just listening to the name "Rapture Waltz"... no need to go that hard Johnny. There are some songs that do fall short of the line that others had set, and that's okay. There are definitely some greats on here... although he's had better (I'm totally not ... read more

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

Yeahhh this album captivated me quick just like Isaac's vocals. First listening to a song I wasn't too sure about how I'd feel, being my first post-rock album, but goodness gracious they are such good musicians. The whole album flows so well. Please check out the live performance of Basketball Shoes because 🧍‍♂️ yea it's good lmao
Just found and bought a CD of it at a record store, legendary find :]

The Backseat Lovers - Waiting to Spill

I love this sound from them, having checked out When We Were Friends first I wasn't really expecting something like this. I think the darker/more somber vibes fit the vocals which embrace isolation real well. I'm genuinely curious to see what they got cooking next, been a while and am excited to see how they progress!
Shoutout to that bookstore that was playing Growing/Dying the other day I need to meet who's on aux👍

Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards - We Did Not Ask for This Room

A bit high? Yes. This album has grown on me so much over time though, starting from being a mid 7 for me. I found it rather boring at first compared to some more of his energetic music, but once I started reading into it and listening more, I came to realy appreciate it. It's really well put together and tells the story of a rather dark time in Johnny's life. It's got a good amount of fun music and more ballad-like music with the Poor Bastard style. They cooked with this one ... read more

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Nonagon Infinity

Yeah no this an infinite loop of peak, such a fun concept and I love the experimentation (ONCE I MISSED A BEAT)
Nonagon Infinity opens the door, and never closes it. :3
