Vulfpeck songs done in the style of Vince Guaraldi, specifically his soundtrack work on the Charlie Brown/Peanuts specials. It's really buzzy and noisy, like an old recording straight to tape or wax, with an airy, almost snowy sense of space in the production.
A side is rough around the edges, very lo-fi recordings with some buzz and peaky frequencies - showcases Mac's approach to songwriting over production.
Love the gentleness of side B with all the simple instrumental tracks in Mac's typical style; drum machines, chorus, whurly organs, twangly guitar.
Such subtle innovation in texture. A blissful listen, every single time.
Full force wonky noise. Bursting at the seems with ideas, but perhaps lacks restraint and direction.
'Camera Day' is such a melter of a track, though.
