While the standard album Red, released in 2012, is amazing and mostly consistent in quality, it's hard to love the Taylor's version more when most of the rerecorded tracks here are worse, from the messed up IKYWT to the Frankensteined Girl At Home. The vault tracks here are great additions, however, as all of them are pretty amazing except for the middling Ed Sheeran feature of Run. So overall I'd say it's on par with the original album.
An incredible album that was robbed of a Grammy. Taylor's entrance to pop featuring producers Max Martin and Shellback was excellent with hits such as 22, IKYWT, and WANEGBT. The album also features some career highlights in its album tracks, in songs such as Treacherous and All Too Well. With the exception of a couple middling songs (Stay Stay Stay with its target commercial production and the repetitive chorus of The Lucky One), the album is one of Taylor's best standard albums (not ... read more
This version of Midnights is the superior, including highlight songs such as Hits Different, Paris, WCS, and High Infidelity. The addition of more strong songs here make it a better album overall, as there aren't any bad songs added, save for the inferior version of Karma.

See my TTPD standard review. While I love getting more music from my favorite artist, I can't help but think some songs on this double album didn't need to be released. While adding career highlights like Chloe or Sam and imgonnagetyouback, this anthology also gives us uninteresting songs like Robin and thanK you aIMee that really makes you question if mass releasing is a good thing. Of course, 11/15 of the additional songs here are good and add to the narrative, but aside from Chloe ... read more
Only real issue is the "thems the brakes" line in Clara Bow. It's a perfectly written album with an interesting (if not cohesive) sound. From the opening guitar on fortnight to the closing stanza including the iconic line "you look like Taylor Swift," I am fully committed to screaming every word. The humor is excellent on songs like TTPD, BDILH, and ICFH (NRIC). WAOLOM is an insane song that couldn't have been written by anyone but a theater kid. MBOBHFT is a ... read more
