This is an album that I find myself immersed in countless times, and one I frequently return to. It's calming, comforting, hazy, and accompanying. It's like you're swimming in space; or even just lying there. It's lovely to stick on in the background of something in an evening, or to put on while you stargaze at your ceiling - either or.
Smooth and Cohesive, and flows well. A lot of popular Jazz albums are difficult to listen to because of their obscurity (despite me liking them) but this one was an easy yet thoroughly enjoyable listen. :)
Gorgeously sounding and flawlessly produced. One of the most electrifying debut's from a band I have heard in a hot minute, if not of all I've listened to. Unifying.
Like an American counterpart to BCNR, though their ideas are totally unique and wicked. Equally as raw, just a lot more post-rock than chamber pop, were BCNR is the opposite. It's really neat and would totally recommend you listen to it if you're free. 8)
Continuing with my delving into Johnny Manchild and The Poor Bastards' discography, they continue to bend genres the best I've seen in a solid while and further display that their creative talent and passion wasn't just a fluke.
In their second album, first "full-length" album, titled "Insomnia" we see the rest of the members of the band - "The Poor Bastards" - take the reigns a little more this time around, while Johnny Manchild takes a more ... read more
After searching for another artist that I can have a good ol' dive into their discography but not knowing who, my good friend Jac recommended me his favourite band, Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards, and I've just listened to their first album.
For those unfamiliar with Johnny Manchild, from what I've gathered, Johnny Manchild and The Poor Bastards are a genre-defying ensemble who are known best for their blends of different music - coming together as one in their tracks - ... read more
It's simply an album consisting only of fun antics; and what's not to love about that?
A brilliant example of artists arting; generally, a very fun and explorative album that I keep finding brilliant.
I think that overall, but especially during the first portion of this album, Jane Remover presents some really interesting ideas that I really enjoyed. However, for me at least, it fell of a little towards the end. ("Let's Go Home" is a very fun song btw.)
Continuing to listen and review Britney's discography, Britney's fifth album, and the first since she got married, had two kids, and then divorced, is not what everyone would've expected at the time but Britney got to work with some of the best dance producers of the time and, well, created a really solid album. ((Unsurprisingly.)) You can play the album from the beginning and the first thing you are hit with is the absolutely iconic "It's Britney, bitch." which is probably one of the ... read more
Once again, with Britney's fourth album, she only continues to grow as well as improve across many fields. Things such as knowing the sort of music she should be making and can experiment with, utilising her vocals perfectly, and being able to actually just produce a really solid album. A really strong album, even if it didn't have me busting moves as much as the other three have done so far.
In Britney's third album, she presents a self-titled project which absolutely revels in fun. I feel that this album was the perfect transition from a teen pop star to a full-on pop star that Britney could have ever released honestly and it just works. While producing this record it is very clear that Britney knew her aduience well by this point, as well as herself as she was way more confident in the sutdio, and that is why all of these tracks work so well. Personally, this album just reminds ... read more
In her second album, Britney Spears only improves the formula discovered in her debut. In this record, the production is much more clean, and she starts to really know how to use her voice. This album is so incredibly 2000s but like in the best way I could mean that. Just as I wrote in my last review of her work, this album made me bust a few moves, I can't lie.
As much as I did rate this album relatively low, and as much as I can say this album is primarily built up of the sort of over-chewed bubblegum type of music you'd find on the radio - which I honestly think is great sometimes (this album had me busting moves, I gotta admit) - it's incredibly difficult to not view this record as Britney's debut album; which, clearly displays that she knows how to create classics, thanks to the help of Max Martin. In this album, is it noticeable that Britney ... read more
More people should listen to this 12-minute gem, just saying. :) <3
