I found this album at my local thrift store as a DVD and later that day listened to it on my dad's old stereo. I was blown away! Everything from his vocals and lyrics to the solos just fantastic. It almost felt too good to be true. But I continued revisiting it and it kept impressing me. I have no idea how the physical copy of this album made its way to my hometown but I will forever be grateful that it did.
I listened to this to cleanse my palate from his newest record and yeah this is pretty peak. Hazard Duty Pay, Rebound, Tired Nervous and Broke, and The Ghost of Ranking Dread are just a couple highlights on this stacked album. Memorable bars and unique production. No skips for me. JPEG at peak form.
Although there's a handful of songs I like, this is easily his worst album since Black Ben Carson. The unique production is still there, but it's much less consistent and enjoyable. I am a big fan of all things Brostep/Riddim etc. and a lot of those parts of the album I find rather generic. And funnily enough I don't actually hate The 1st Amendment. Hopefully in the future (Scaring the Hoes 2 please) he returns to form.
This album certainly grew on me overtime and I'm very glad I gave it the time to do so. Full of infectious energy, catchy choruses, and inventive production, I also find myself impressed with the execution of the album's themes. It's cohesive and varied, and even my one skip I don't hate, it just doesn't do it for me. Although there's a lot of highlights I do love Jackpot, Legs In a Snare, and Yard Sale.
Solid but some of the album definitely feels a little samey. I think the latter half is better in this regard, but it's nonetheless a prevailing feeling I get throughout the album. However, it is catchy and fun, with only a couple true skips for me.
Wow I did not expect to love this like I did. No skips and all songs are catchy and memorable. Seraphim is criminally underrated and a heart-wrenching song. Not Worth It and Starsick are also both fantastic and both 8+ minute songs deserve every minute of length. Although I never would've expected this, I'm happy and confident to have this as my first 95 of the year.
