Just remove drunk and hot girls and this would be an easy 95-100. Emotional, spectacular and empowering are the words that fit this album from the pristine production to Kanye actually rapping like he means it.
This album displayed prime Mike Dean and Kanye production combined with generational features like Nicki Minaj or Rick Ross make for one of the best Kanye albums of all time.
My favourite female singer of all time. She was so ahead of her time when an album from 1997 sounds so high quality in 2025. Vocal performances and instrumentals are on point
Am I schizophrenic or am I seeing ghosts right now? I'll be seeing ghosts soon if I keep ascending from this album
First time I've heard god damn Brazilian phonk from a rap project. Best way to describe this experience is that it's a cycle of nutting and feeling post nut clarity with how many bangers or introspective songs there are
🔥, 💯 - 1 (56 minutes was too short, should've been 10 hours of this experience so I could edge to it)
The mix of replayable, fun tracks and the more introspective tracks make for such an immersive and bittersweet experience.
Decent to amazing songs, and the experience of listening to this was so nostalgic, which is hard to come by on any musical project.
Disc 1 is already considered one of the best albums in the 2020s, but Disc 2 hosts some of the best jazz rap I have heard. Ever. Jazz rap as a genre is already peak, but Denzel Curry performing it? I would melt my eyez to see another album like this from Denzel Curry. Favourites: Literally every song
For Section 80 to be an artist's debut album, I think many knew the kid from Compton had potential to become one of the greatest rappers in history. Compared to other Kendrick albums, this one is certainly not the best produced or performed, but that's because they're Kendrick albums we're comparing it to. Section 80 remains as one of the greatest debut albums I have ever heard, and fan favourites such as ADHHDHDHDHDHD and Rigamortus have become staples in Kendrick's ... read more
This album hits hard when you're old man. Not even to old people, but to people experiencing some kind of turmoil, this album is perfect. Tracks like 'We Cry Together' or 'Mother I Sober' may not be the best songs to put in a playlist, but they hit HARD when you listen to them every once in a while. Conceptually, the process of accepting your flaws and freeing yourself from expectations resonates with so many people growing up or experiencing a hard time, and this album ... read more
Squabble up. Squabble up. Squabble up. Squabble up. Squabble up. Squabble up. Squabble up. Squabble up. It was my 5th most listened to song in 2024... GNX was released in late November...Kendrick's musical versatility and quality is shown through this album, and the amount of times I've replayed songs like Squabble up... Squabble up... Squabble up... Squabble up... or had literal epiphanies listening to songs such as Gloria made me appreciate this album so much. I would want to give ... read more
I love this album. On a storytelling perspective, there's nothing more we have to talk about Kendrick's writing. Since the release of DAMN, I have been rotating tracks such as Pride or Duckworth in multiple playlists, and Kendrick's display of versatility is on display from some damn emotional performances on feel to bops like DNA. I can't really give this album a 100 because of Loyalty, Lust and Fear personally being a bit underwhelming, but all in all DAMN is a very high ... read more
A friend recommended me this artist and specifically this album, and I will say that it was interesting. First time vocals have made me cringe so hard my neck almost cramped, making it probably the worst first impression I've had of an artist ever. It's not a matter of whether I could understand the lyrics or not, since her vocals were flat out bad. The songs just don't mesh well with her vocals, and the audacity to call a compilation of covers sung with such raw, poorly ... read more
