It's very easy to get lost in the world creates during its reasonable 35 minute runtime. The instrumentation is timeless, McKinley's raps are on point, the songs all feel like they belong here and serve a real purpose. Beautiful

I like some of the dance production, it has a nice nocturnal sound. But the song structures are what kill these songs for me over and over again. I'm okay with repetition but not just for the sake of saving you the time of writing an interesting song. I don't hate this album, I occasionally find myself in the mood to keep giving it a try to see how my feelings have changed. Unfortunately, too many times I find myself wondering how much longer until Drake moves onto the next unfinished ... read more
Controlled chaos. I feel like that's JPEG's sound boiled all the way down. Each beat has its own unique character and the duo are the epic handshake meme for just a bit more than half an hour. Love it!
What an incredible album! The Weeknd takes the 80s sound he's been working on for the better half of a decade and creates some of his most exciting music ever. It's a far cry from where he began his musical career, but that's what happens over time. You adapt and change and grow, that's what this feels like to me. He's being true to his musical influences by making them his own.
Usually my album rating method is to average each track rating, but this album to me is perfect. I'm not in love with All Glass or Frank Lucas, but they are still good songs, they just are overshadowed by some of my favorite songs from the rap genre ever. Gangsta Gibbs delivers heavy!
I will always remember the point in time this dropped. It's not a mind blowing experience, but there is a great batch of songs and I know I will be periodically returning to this album in whole for a long time to come.
I hate that I had to listen to this in order to bring it back down to earth in the ratings. There is virtually no personality to Sage's music. He had a really big moment with Gas Pedal and good for him, but I found myself checking out mentally after about the first minute of any given song. The only exception was Down on your luck which I did make to the end and had some positive feelings about that track.
The highs on this album, particularly in the first half, make up for the slightest of lows I'm the second half. You won't find any better 5 songs to start an album this year. It is textbook world building through sound and he executes on each creative idea perfectly. My favorite album this year.
Hard Hitting! I absolutely love this album. It got me through the early part of COVID with its intense and electric energy kicked off by one of my favorite RED intros. The energy continues through the first three tracks before getting to The War we Made, clearly there "pop" reach of the album. Not to say that it doesn't still mean something to them, it just is a decent song that's a little to overly-palatable. But then, when all hope is lost, The Evening Hate comes in and ... read more
I feel like this is Red at their purest form. Great songs in this from start to finish. They play to their strengths while still having catchy writing.
A couple excellent songs, make up for the songs I'm less crazy about (Survivor's Guilt, Stop That). The songs that aren't necessarily standouts are still really enjoyable to me. I miss 2022 music man.
This album has a sound progression like nothing else I have heard. You start inside a beautifully haunting piano and end in a wall of static. Fusion of so many genres kept me entertained the entire hour runtime. Somehow, Quad manages to start off strong, and end it stronger.
