I’m assuming this is the recommended starting point for Bjork’s discography because to me it really showed her sound while also being very accessible.

I was already familiar with Army of Me and Hyper-ballad and I love those two songs and they were definitely two of my favourite songs on the album. I don't think they transition into each other too well but structurally their positions in the album are good.

I do like the tonal variance of the album, while the main themes are love, self-expression and living in a busy chaotic world songs like The Modern Things are quite funny and sound like Bjork hypothesised a conspiracy theory to amuse herself (I didn't look up the translations of the icelandic lyrics in that song). I definitely resonate with the lyrics on songs like Enjoy and Possibly Maybe about being scared yet intrigued by the world (especially living in London like how Bjork did around this time I think).

Bjork really dispels the idea that you can’t be both an exceptional producer and an exceptional lyricist. I love the angry distorted bass and cranky drums and Enjoy and Army Of Me. Headphones is obviously Headphones. The strings on Hyper-ballad and Isobel are beautifully ethereal. I also like the transitions between You've Been Flirting Again and Isobel as well as Cover Me and Headphones.

However, I really didn't like It’s Oh So Quiet. INot only did it feel out of place but I also think that style of old Hollywood big band music is too primitive both emotionally and instrumentally when compared to Bjork’s signature art pop. Also why is it where it is in the album? It would make more sense in between I Miss You and Cover Me in my opinion. Actually it should even be on the album because of its stylistic differences.

Favourite Tracks: Army Of Me, Hyper-ballad, The Modern Things, Enjoy, Isobel, I Miss You, Headphones
Least Favourite Track: It’s Oh So Quiet
