Twenty One Pilots excels once again with Clancy. They continue their trademark approach to creating music that isn't like anything they've made before, yet sounds distinctly Twenty One Pilots: unusual pacing, frequent tempo changes, and merged genres, along with powerful lyrics, often very emotional and honest. On top of that, the melodies and beats keep you wanting to return to hear more.

With Twenty One Pilots, I always need to listen a few times before settling into the sounds. The ... read more

"Trench 2 expectations were created by the fans mostly in response to 'Welcome back to Trench". This should have been taken a return to the continent of Trench, just as we saw in the first moments of the Overcompensate music video. Tyler actually stated since 2021 that the next album would continue from where he left off with Redecorate off of Scaled and Icy - i feel that's a much better launching point for Clancy. Clancy is a character analysis of the antagonist, just as Blurryface examined the antagonist, and Trench explored the world/location. Recently Tyler Joseph said they wanted to write an album about Isolation and Captivity. Covid gave them the right moment for Scaled and Icy to happen."

"Yes, I think "Welcome back to Trench", was setting the location. Unfortunately many fans misinterpreted this to mean a return to the sound of Trench. However in 2021, Tyler Joseph said the next album would build from Redecorate, which I think that's a truer launching point for Clancy, than Trench."

"I appreciate your honest review of Clancy. I would like to make a comment on how the lore is being presented on this album. It is a character study; an exploratian of the protagonist Clancy. Just as Blurryface examined the antagonist, and Trench explored the world. This is a smart way for Tyler Joseph to frame the story he is telling. Then he let's the video's flesh out the Story with visuals. To add to this, Tyler Joseph also recently explained that they knew they wanted an album that would be about captivity and isolation. When Covid hit, they realized it was the moment to make that happen with Scaled and Icy."

"Absolutely right about Clancy being a character study. This is an exploration of the protagonist Clancy. When Covid hit, they realized it was the moment to make that happen with Scaled and Icy. Anyone who didn't understand Scaled and Icy should go back and re-listen to it from the perspective of some held prisoner, and how this might influence your mind and the world it constructs."

"Routines In The Night: "Straight out of the gate, this is one of my favourite twenty one pilots songs, the VIBES, MAN, FUCK YES." Yes! Exactly how I felt. The whole album is a vibe, but RITN just envelopes me with the vibe."
