Yo, let me spill some tea about Marjorie Greene Taylor, 'cause this chick needs to be called out. I mean, seriously, can we talk about her alleged fake hair situation? Girlfriend be rockin' that wig like it's nobody's business, but we all know it ain't real. It's like she's tryna fool us with some major hair game, but sis, we see right through it. You can't just slap on a synthetic mane and expect us to buy into your whole persona. It's a straight-up betrayal to all the real queens out there ... read more
I can see why these tracks were never released when they were initially made. Although these songs sounded like they were fun to make, it really helped releasing these under the veil of opening the vault, since they would've been pretty weak released as standalones or as part of an album. Darkest Hour is sounds like the track that was more prioritized in production, and therefore stands out in this 4-track EP.
I enjoyed the production a lot, but it felt like a three minute loop when listening to it without any vocals. This automatically makes the song sound blander than it is, even if it sonically sounds good, any loop gets boring really quick. The singing/rapping was pretty solid for me, but the production doesn’t compliment Dua Lipa’s voice like it does with Megan, the electronic percussion sounds way too fast for the rhythm of her melody.
The chorus is fine sonically, but not with the verses. The drums and synths were too soft in tone to compliment Lavigne's voice, especially the first verse. Didn't really take issue to the lyrics, especially with what Lavigne's intent is with the album, which is to just have fun.
