sort of inconsistent but intro where im from and rap game/crack game are some of the best jay songs

While I’ll never understand this being seen as one of the best rap albums ever it is very consistent and surprisingly the production doesn’t sound too dated even 20 years later. the low points are somewhat boring but are rare and the high points are great.

the best and most consistent jay album. I’ve always seen a lot of his albums as somewhat overrated (still good) but this is one of the few albums i still remember my first listen of. one of the best conscious rap albums of the decade amazing production from no id start to finish and Jays most personal lyrics of his career.

last 1/3 is maybe the best stretch of jay z ever and makes me want to give this an 8 or higher but theres just too many misses in the first half.
