I'm surprised this is even on the 1001 albums generator, it's one of the few albums I can say I actively disliked listening to. Despite being 35 minutes it drags heavily and is so repetitive and boring, the vocals are terrible and the combination of everything just comes across as jarring. I just don't get this yet, maybe eventually
A more modern equivalent of the Cocteau Twins, this may be one of my favourite dream pop releases I've heard. The echoed ethereal vocal tracks, dreamy and concentrated atmosphere, everything works hand in hand to create potent album. Troublemaker has quickly become a top tier song for me, and the quality doesn't dip throughout. Something about melancholy lyrics with beautiful sounds just gets me every time
Kraftwerk Kraftwerk Kraftwerk, very few can pull off a 22 minute song and I'm happy to say they're one of them! The rest of the album is also nothing to sneeze at as well, though they don't quite meet those initial highs. It's futuristic yet funky, with touches of atmospheric ambience that elevate the whole thing
k.d. lang truly has one of the best voices in the alt-country game, and I think this album showcases that well. The approach is rather simple production wise, but it allows for a very warm abd homely atmosphere to permeate the whole thing. It's just so lovely that I can't not give it a high score
Incendiary falls into a common trap a lot of punk and hardcore albums do, in that it doesn't go anywhere! That really frustrates me because otherwise this is a fantastic album. The guitars just rip through each and every song, vocals fierce and cutthroat. There's a lot of anger and uncertainty that is present in most of the tracks, which reflects the time period it was made in.
