Eternal sunshine is a very short concept album. Staying in lane with her discography, it's mostly pop and rnb.
Surprisingly, Ariana shows off less vocally in order to leave room for her story, which leads to some tracks being a bit boring. The verses paint a pretty good picture of her situation and her state of mind at the end of her marriage (kinda unbelievable she was ever married). Wcbf and true story allows her to tackle both her asshole of an ex and her public perception. Bye and yes ... read more
Drums, guitar and vocals chords were violated. 4 is a classic yet massively underrated Beyoncé album which gave births to career-defining upbeat songs as well as powerful ballads. If B'Day is her loudest album, 4 is her best studio vocal performance : she just belts (and growls) all over the record. Rather die young or 1+1 are perfect examples of her very emotional and soulful delivery.
When nobody else was doing it, Beyoncé decided to bring back the 80s sound and gave us ... read more
Through the wall is designed for a night club. Rochelle Jordan comes across as confident in her sound, which blends house and garage, but also in her lyrics, as she's moving on from a relatisonship. She also appears as contained vocals and production wise. She experiments a lot with a spoken or rapped style, which kind of reminds me of Azealia Banks. She's at her best on tracks like Never enough and Get it off in which she sounds sensual, detached, elusive and the production feels ... read more
I was intrigued by Adela because of the edgy cover but I'm more than disappointed. Looking at the reviews, I feel like there’s been some kind of mass delusion. Adela tries to hook us with a loud production that lacks any subtlety in the choruses. Except for SexOnTheBeat, all I hear is generic, irritating noise. I don't get the appeal at all. It's very annoying when an artist poses as something they are not. A few disses at the music industry and the internet are not ... read more
Black Star is a step down from Fountain baby. The first half had me worried but the second half is a bit stronger. Girlie-pop is a refreshing fusion of afro-brazilian sounds and a tiktok-esque jersey beat. SMO is the infectuous banger that closes on a good outro. It’s a shame it was released as a lead single cause it had me mistaken on how good the album was gonna be. Dream Scenario could have been an enjoyable emotional moment with gorgeous instruments if it were not for the weirdly ... read more
