Lil Yachty - Strike (Holster)

It's evolving but backwards, I hope that LSH wasn't a fluke

Tyler, The Creator - CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale
92

(This review will be purely on the new tracks exclusive to the estate sale edition of call me if you get lost) (score above with both bonus tracks and original album)
Tyler the creator is an artist that I have been obsessed with in recent years and with his previous album Call me if you get lost doing amazing overall both critically and publicly everyone thought that we were going to get a new genre-defying album in 2023. However earlier this week we were told that Tyler would be dropping some ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - SORRY NOT SORRY
96

If you listen along side the music video It enhances the listen but even if it is just the audio this is clearly Tyler and his lyrical best. Apologizing indirectly but also retracting that apology just in the title alone gives the song personality before the beat even starts. The lyrics are personal Entertaining and even tear jerking. Production from Tara Razavi is also a highlight on the song. Tyler's ballsy move to release a b side instead of releasing a new album could prove to be very ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - DOGTOOTH
90

Very excited for the deluxe this weekend and this is a great lead single to start on. Production is refined and smooth just like the original CMIYGL era and the new adlibs from DJ Drama that breathes a wave of fresh air over the track. However, this is a very ballsy move from Tyler since everyone was expecting a new full-blown album. Overall, I'm very hopeful for this deluxe edition, I just hope it isn't the only thing we get from Tyler this year.

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
92

This was one of my most anticipated albums of 2023 and this extremely talented duo absolutely delivered. Both Danny brown and Peggy had some of the greatest albums of the 2010s with Atrocity exhibition and Veteran respectively and they both came together on this album to make the best album of 2023 so far. From the production to the sample choices Peggy again shows why he's one of the best current hip hop producers there is. Peggy And Danny's distinctive voices and flows also manage to be a ... read more

Twelve'Len & Denzel Curry - Lady Draco

Worst of Denzel's recent feature run but still overall a nice listen

Lil Pump - Lil Pump 2

honestly, I couldn't even write about this like what even happened here. It feels like He's just trying to replicate his hype from all those years ago but now it's just insanely over saturated.

100 gecs - 10,000 gecs

For the duos sophomore album they really let their noisy, rhythmic personalities shine. Very similar to their first album with a few small tweaks that allow for the duo to shine with some rock aspects such as on tracks like the single "Hollywood baby" and the closing track "mememe." I feel that this type of music is an acquired taste that I have not fully embraced but even without that I found this album very enjoyable with various sound bites scattered throughout the album ... read more

Don Toliver - Love Sick
71

This album is a nice breakup album and leaves me asking for more from the stellar production to the light and floaty vocals from don toliver. The feature list has its hits and misses my favorites being kali uches and charlie Wilson making both of their respective features on their songs perfect and Justin Bieber giving a lackluster performance on his. Overall this shows that cactus jack records can still hold its own even without the head artist but I do this it has some work to do if it wants ... read more

Yeat - AftërLyfe

I will say that this album was better then I expected and the highs are definitely high and worth the listen but to sit through the hour on itself isn't and the album overall is very bloated with the hits being in-between alot of the bulk, however he does close out with a very nice personal track at least in terms of Yeats recent projects

Logic - College Park
82

This is logics first independently released album and coming off of leaving def jam records he gives us a stellar view on his life when he started rapping on stage in 2009. The skits throughout the album follow him and his friends getting to a show in DC, his first in front of a large crowd. I feel like the skits added an extra layer of personality to the album. Overall the production is the best we've ever seen from logic and he's also in his prime form lyrically. In terms of logics talent I ... read more
