They're back with new sounds and its dreamy and psychedelic. Not as much energy as their previous album though. Still a neat album.
Spotify recommended "Everybody's Finding Out" off this album and it was a rather pleasant experience to listen to the rest of this album. For a band with less than 200 listeners I was impressed by the experimentation and varying styles. I enjoyed at least half of this album finding the songs "Judy and Jackie" and "Everybody's Finding Out" as stand outs of the album. Although it may be forgotten in the depths of the archives, I will forever appreciate ... read more
I love this band with all my heart but this is definitely the weakest album in their discography. There are hints of the sound from their previous album Change but it falls on itself with a radio friendly sound with bits of their whimsical style being incorporated. Its a bit boring, but not the worst thing you will ever hear, You would expect more after their last 3 albums being complete bangers.
If ADHD was a drummer, it would be Zach Hill. I find this album to be a funny piece of work considering Rob Crow being a more conventional musician all while Zach makes every song have a singular dynamic being fast and loud as possible at all times. Zach Is absolute specimen on the drums and I’m astonished with his talent but he could lay off the double bass kicks and toms just a bit.
I didn’t go into this album expecting much. The singles off this album did not give me a good first impression in the first place. A lot of the songs are pretty barebones and derivative. I respect Remo Drive’s decision to change things up but it just resulted in a monotonous style that just has nothing new to offer.
The first Argentinian rock album Ive ever listened to and I gotta say it really surprised me to hear how great it was. I love the mix of acoustic ballads and the psychedelic rock tracks with unique structures and occasional time signature changes. It has a laid back feel and groove to it and its honestly one of the neatest albums I've heard.
A fun Surf/Garage rock album with that DIY aesthetic that works really well
This change to a gospel like style isn’t really what I expected of TV Girl. All songs involve a repetitive loop always containing a gospel singer or choir at the center of almost each track. The last track goes overboard with the samples in the most obnoxious way. The theme is interesting but it was executed poorly that this album was not enjoyable to listen to.
There isn’t anything that stands out too much from this album. Harmony House was more interesting and enjoyable.
I think some of the songs are enjoyable but the production quality dropped noticeably. The vocals don’t really sound mixed properly and sometimes it gets drowned out by the instruments.
This album isn’t particularly too special to the indie surf genre but other than that I think it’s a pretty nice album overall that has a nice lo-fi aesthetic. The songs are simplistic with a happy tone that anyone can enjoy.
There’s just something so comforting about the soft vocals and lo-if instrumentation
