Life is Beautiful is a pretty solid album altough it is a bit underwhelming. I think I expected more of Larry and 2 Chainz rapping wise but man O man the production is consistent and beautiful as fuck. This album is just alchemist proving he got this game on lock. Collosal is the only real miss on here the rest of the album is pretty consistent with the title track "Life Is Beautiful" being the best track on the LP.
DAMN is what the term "concept album" was made for. Even if it isnt as consistent sonically as "TPAB" and "GKMC" it definitely is just as good if not better conceptually. A lot of great songs on here too dont get me wrong its just kendrick has set the bar so high for himself it is hard to make every song a mindblowing expirience. But a few tracks of "DAMN" also do that. A masterpiece of an album.
Yeezus is maximalist even for kanye's standards. Such a groundbreaking and expiremental record that inspired a whole generation with its sounds. Yeezus is the definition of a grower and really just a piece of art that speaks for itsself. Not much to say other than this probaply kanye's best work to date.
Bon ivers debut album is a heartwrenching, depressing, authentic and raw LP that finds little to no comparison in the folk/indie space. Such a bitter sweet and beautiful listen about heartbreak, isolation, depression but also at the end hope. The songs are very cohesive and his lyrics are more like poetry than conventional songwriting. I love the way he works with metaphores it leaves a lot for interpretation. When someone is wearing his heart on his sleeve like that and is also able to deliver ... read more
Franks debut album showcases his abilities as a singer but also as a songwriter. A lot of great tunes and bops on here with a loose theme tying everything together. Channel orange is necessary in his discography in order for blonde to even be possible which is also a reason I cherish this album. Definetly a musical masterpiece with a lot of ear candy paving the way for blonde. Also pyramids is a generational piece of music everyone needs to hear.
Swimming has been one of my comfort albums for a long time and everytime I listen to it I just find more reasons to love this album. It is a superconsistent tracklist that just has zero misses for me. It is a hiphop/neo-soul/rnb/jazz fusion album that is very accesible has expiremental elements and also is super cohesive. If you want something nice on the ears with a lot of substance listen to swimming.
This is how you do a musical send off. You can tell mac perfected the sound he was going for on swimming with this album although circles also does a lot differently. The more in your face instrumental moments and the soft production give this a really special feel. Some of my favourite songs off all time are on this album and tbh there is not one miss here. Such a melancholic, beautiful and touching listen of a very cohesive LP.
A very vulnerable album from vince, great produciton, songwriting and overall a very cohesive album. It is very short though, which has its upside but imo this could have went on for a bit longer. It is a very good short piece of musical work from vince that you can revisit alot. It is missing that one standout track though.
Dark times is a modern day hip hop/rap masterpiece. From the boom bap beats to the interludes/spokenwords and vinces rap performances this album hits the nail on the head imo. The themes which the album explores all fall under the umbrella of vinces personal struggles and doubts and I think he does a great job opening up and talking about his issues. Thouroughly enjoyed this one.
Utopia seems to me like a sequel to Rodeo, expanding on the maximalist and industrial sound that Rodeo had while also having songs in the mix which are more reminiscent of Astroworld or even their own new thing. This album doesnt really know what it wants to convey, it does have a overarching concept which lacks in execution in my opinion. It is travis scott tho so a lot of the tracks are undeniably fun and nice ear candy.
SahBabii seems to pick certain things he likes from atlanta trap artists and expands on it. Definetly one of the most interesting of the young thug disciples with his own unique flair. The album is very consistent in production and sound. SahBabii finds insane flow pockets on some tracks, his willingness to expirement with vocal inflections also is very cool. The lyrics are not really a main focus on the album which shouldnt suprise anybody, there are some funny ones tho for sure. All in all ... read more
The album showcases nudy's signature sound which he has mastered but can get boring when the beats are not as expiremental as on gumbo. It is still good, I just find this a very forgetable project with the exeption of Impala and Nun To Do.
Young Nudy is a very unique trap artist, he somehow is able to do his own thing and sound nothing like his contemporaries in a very saturated genre. This album is a breath of fresh air in the trap space but it does have some dull moments which dont weigh as heavy because of the short runtime. Portabella is an alltime classic btw.
One of kanyes most beloved albums and it is for a reason. This album holds some of ye's best and groundbreaking tracks. The influence this album had on the culture cant be understated. It should be a 90 but barry bonds and drunk and hot girls keep this album from being flawless and therefore for me it nearly misses out on the masterpiece title.
Even tho it is a throw away album, it is a frank ocean throw away album so its better than 99% of artists real albums which is very impressive. There are some songs where you see why he calls it a throw away but there are others which are masterpieces like higgs. It is a beautiful, engaging and interesting expirience and not at all an album you should just glance over.
My favourite album of all time, emotionally touching, sonically amazing and also a great concept album with many intricacies. There may never be an album I like more
