Jim Legxacy - black british music (2025)

One of the most talented artists in the UK currently. The production throughout the course of the album is so expansive and captivating. Jim does a really good job balancing out both personal tracks with upbeat bangers. It doesn't seem like it would collectively work well as an album, but it does very well. UK hip hop is in good hands, Jim is the future for the genre, I'm hoping his trajectory keeps getting higher and higher.

this is a crazy bold take, but inflo not working with simz is the best thing to happen for her current music, along with her future albums. little simz has made a lot of noise in the hiphop community as of late, but I've never enjoyed an album of hers top to bottom. not until lotus came out. it may not be as up front and "impactful" compared to her recent work. well actually, I think this is by far her most impactful album. a point needed to be made that she can make a well ... read more

this came out of left field from tyler. six months after chromakopia we're blessed with ANOTHER album?? first listen, I wasn't a huge fan but I also didn't understand Tyler's concept of this record being a straight up dance driven. once knowing that, second listen was dope. super groovy all around with some of his more fun tracks I've heard in a while. is it better than his last four albums before? I don't think so. but still must admit, this album is fun asf.

crazy how one summer can put a hip-hop up into my all time favorites. de la soul has always been a notable figure in my life, but stakes is high has been my go to for years dating back to when their discography was put on spotify. that all changed after going back to this album in june. this is one of the smoother albums in the genre you'll ever find, but there's still some bangers. maneco parker quietly carried parts of this record, his sax along with the rest of the production is so ... read more

holy shit. hoooooly shit. as someone who consumes a TON of jazz hip hop, I haven't had a reaction to an album like this since imaginal disk. the live instrumentation is incredible, it feels like you're in the recording booth listening to these tracks. dixon nails it bar after bar, alongside his features. love the concept, love the production, love every aspect of this record. for me, this was the best jazz hiphop record I've heard since we got it from here?? (top ten album of all ... read more
