CHEERS TO 400!Thanks for sticking along and reading my reviews, as well as loving the music we listen to with me!
My original review for this record was one that I was proud of, so I’m going to put it again into this one with some additional context:
Nurture is parallel in its meaning as it is to its creation: overcoming your worst to see how far you've come. Robinson in his very own struggle reflects to his audience that change and our negative seasons can be overwhelming, or chaotic, ... read more
I initially hesistated to listen to this album upon its release because I genuinely thought that nothing could compare to Preacher's Daughter, an all time favorite of mine. Boy, was I so wrong. Ethel Cain continues to make these rich, deep, emotionally powerful works; it's extremely intentional. I don't think that Ethel is comparable in her artistry. Her sound is one very individually designed and curated. Heartbreaking, passionate, so ethereal. I get grappled with goosebumps ... read more
One of my top albums of 2025. As the infamous Ethel Cain said, "it sounds like music made for bugs" and I think it's a great descriptor for this record by the French artist. it's a bit deeper than that as well of course - it sets a scene and a mood for much of the album. It's an industrially manufactured album that's meant to be enjoyed outside in nature. This album has accompanied me through many late night walks in cities while solo-travelling (including in ... read more
Don't know why this album is rated so low. The sibling hyperop duo has really found their sound with this record - I think they've really began to clean up their sound and it sounds much more intentional than their previous spunky, fun records. This work combines fun EDM to dance and move with nostalgic tendencies. I really don't know why this album makes me so emotional at some points. Maybe it's the title. Maybe it's the duo itself. Knowing the relationship of the ... read more
I remember when this album came out in the fall of 2023 and everyone on AOTY came on here just to talk about it. I didn't discover Jane Remover until very recently, and it actually started with their rap/hyperpop. Then I forced myself to actually listen to this album once and for all, just to find a very, very different sound than what I had been listening and jumping to by the same artist. Then I discovered Jane's age... which would have made them around 18/19 when this album was ... read more
Hiiii it has been a hot minute since I've been on here. I guess as a preface, I used to use this website religiously when I was in college, but after I graduated I moved to Morocco. I've had so much free time, but have not been using it to the best of my ability. It's been like, 3 years since I've posted a proper review on this fuck ass website... but lately, I've been feeling more and more connected to the music I've been listening to. Living abroad and alone can ... read more
