New York. Early 1980s. By many accounts, the city itself was art.
It was a place where a pre-fame Jean-Michel Basquiat and Madonna were casually, dating. Where youth expressed its freedom, creativity, and struggles with a kind of reckless dedication. If its art and music were symptoms of the scene, Madonna became its most feverish hysteria.
