Manwolves - It All Comes For Me
87

- A collaboratively-created mood medley of catchy flows and rainy days
- Fantastic loop
- Really not a fan of their album art because it doesn't feel like Manwolves
- Crashprez really let Manwolves focus on their instrumental side and experiment, and I'll here for it
- If this is their new sound, I can't wait for what they cook up next
I love Manwolves, but this might be their saddest record yet in terms of tone. Opening on "built 2 last" it's this relatable ... read more

Cefaris - The Eleventh Vampyric Invocation of the Eternal Gloomeater
80

- Disturbing, ominous, and almost mean-spirited ambiance and vampiric screechings
- 8 tracks and almost 42 minutes? No, I don't think I could stomach it back-to-back
- Stunning album art, no doubt ab out it
- This is my only Cefaris album to date BUT I can say that it has a very distinct place among the vampiric dungeon synth niche
- It's their most recent release and I hope for more with less or at least different vocal styles
If you are here or have listened to anything like this, ... read more

Puma Blue - antichamber
78

- Sorrow and confusion meet in this dim yet expansive reflection
- At 14 tracks and 35 minutes, I don't think I'm looping it
- Album art leaves a bit to despite but it's fitting
- A new step for Puma Blue's sound, and altogether welcomed experimentation
Antichamber is not easily-accessible. Opening with the "debris" it's hard to get a general feeling for the record. It's all kind of confusing, even after four total listens, and I think that's ... read more

late night drive home - as i watch my life online
94

(RECORD-BREAKING YAPPING IN-BOUND)
- Profound & bold; 94
- Catchy but not cliche indie rock that focuses on the confusing, painful, and frustrating elements of growing up on the internet, and be warned, late night drive home is NOT afraid to be belligerent
- Despite 13 tracks and nearly 50 minutes, the loop is very enjoyable. The opener "as i watch my life online" is this interesting tribute to LCD Soundsystem and early Arcade Fire, and the middle is not as distinct, the closer ... read more

Sean Murray - Call of Duty: World at War
91

(This review pertains to the themes and music of each individual level and the main menu)
- Eclectic taste; 91
- Imagine one of the hardest collection of ambiance, guitar, emotions, and textures made for a FPS GAME FROM 2008?
- The loop here is just too long. On the close end of 3 hours, there is a general flow to the soundtrack with rise and dips, but the structure and length is easily the hardest part to get by
- Album art's fine, I guess? It does the job
- I like recommending this to ... read more

Polyphia - Remember That You Will Die
51

- Disappointment; 51
- A difficult and frustrating math rock experimentation that's weighed down by such squandered potential
- The thought about having to sit through the middle of this record makes me want to crumble into dust; I am not looping this shit ever
- The album art is a snore. I don't like the direction they took after NLND because it feels really pretentious and edgy without any ounce of self-awareness
- I will share *some* songs, but not the whole album. Also ... read more

Polyphia - New Levels New Devils
100

- Actually perfect; 100
- A masterful mixing of tones, beats, production, complicated time signatures, killer riffs, and the best math rock drums in the business. Enter New Levels New Devils
- One of the strongest, most addictive loops out there. At 10 songs, nearly 37 minutes, it's criminal how easy and good it is to loop this. Also, to start with "Nasty" and end with "G.O.A.T" hello? Is this allowed?
- The best Polyphia album art: bold, confident, and just plain cool ... read more

Polyphia - Renaissance
85

- Renaissance Truther; 85
- A take-it-or-leave-it preamble to Polyphia's glory days, continuing the math rock trend that experiments with different tones and more trap beats
- The loop is enjoyable if a little long. Furthermore, there's no real structure or organization; just a bunch of cohesive tracks
- Album art is... pretentious but fine
- The variety of emotions on Renaissance lends itself to being good to recommend, even to people that don't listen to math rock frequently
- ... read more

Polyphia - Muse
55

- Bloated bad; 55
- An incredibly one-note, long, middling, and over-indulgent math rock record with too much damn guitar
- I am not looping this. Hell no, for so many reasons. Do not loop this
- Album art sucks, its bad and I don't know how its connected to the content
- I am not sharing Muse with anyone. Maybe if they are desperately going through Polyphia's entire discography, but still then, it's not the worth the full time
- I guess Muse is the heel of the discography
I ... read more

Polyphia - The Most Hated
84

- Aged well; 84
- Solid and pleasing math rock EP that utilizes dubstep and trap beats
- EPs are inherently easier to loop, and barring the lukewarm beginning of "Loud" the quality's and cohesiveness pretty good, although no semblance of structure
- The art's fine? I guess? I'm ambivalent towards it, which often doesn't happen
- While not THE Polyphia record to start someone off with, it's serviceable; an essential piece of music in any math rock fan's ... read more

Myrone - Soft Shred Universe
84

- Brave entry; 84
- The groove and guitar is up to 10 here, without jumping energy or crushing disappointments. Good fun
- Loop is meh. Cohesion and structure are absent, the length pushing it, but the quality overall is satisfying
- Album art's a little tacky; more of a fan of the cartoonish style
- Incredibly accessible. Barring maybe the stellar Drift Stage Vol. 1, it's the easiest listening
- Soft Shred The Universe takes risks and tries to continue the similar style of Guitar ... read more

Myrone - GUITAR MAGIC
90

- No slacker; 90
- Take the energy of Drift Stage Vol. 1 and the experimentation of ONLY MYRONE IS REAL, and you get the groovy majesty of Guitar Magic
- Very fun loop with an enjoyable array of sounds and chapters, if a little long
- Album art's goofy, fun, bright; wonderful representation
- Very accessible record, not to mention the different textures/genres that can act as a gateway to the entire album
- Guitar Magic feels very mature, with its 14 tracks, solid experimentation, and ... read more

Myrone - ONLY MYRONE IS REAL
51

- Bloated; 51
- A mild entry in Myrone's electronic guitar laboratory filled with high highs, low lows, but most middling mehs
- I am no looping an 18 track record like this where there's no strong opener or closer
- Album art's slightly better than Hue, but not much
- You can share some tracks with people but this not a good entry point in the discography
- I could argue that ONLY MYRONE IS REAL offers bulk with its length, but Myrone has SO much music; the discography ... read more

Myrone - Hue
83

- Confusing and fun; 83
- Imagine the intersection of lofi beats to study to, waporwave, trap beats, seductive guitar shredding, and you get the unique record that is Hue
- The loop, while not bad, isn't good either. The mishmash of tones, vague names, and the lack of coherent or thematic structure makes it easy to forget song placement
- Very lazy album art, even for 2018 Myrone
- If someone's looking for some interesting lofi, it can be recommended
- Among the Myrone discography, ... read more

Myrone - Drift Stage Vol. 1
92

- Peak Myrone; 92
- The glorious, super-charged, bumpin soundtrack to a racing game that could never compare to the sexy guitars and bombastic energy of Drift Stage, Vol 1
- At 11 bite-sized tracks, the loop here is chill with Exclusive Coupe being the perfect closer
- Album art is exactly what it needs to be: bright, punchy, slick
- If you know someone who like racers, cars, F1, or just fun guitar, this easily accessible record's their man
- Drift Stage is the launch pad for Myrone, with ... read more

Iron and Wine & Ben Bridwell - Sing Into My Mouth
59

- Not great; 59
- A collab album of two musicians, having fun and doing what they like on a COVER record. The entire thing is covers
- With its length, you can just loop Shepherd's Dog, so just go do; spend 44 minutes listening to a better loop
- Album art's fun plus just kinda simple
- I'm not sharing this with people unless they're doing a full I&W deep-dive
- A neat entry into the disco but nothing to write home about
Up until the point of writing this review, I had ... read more

Iron & Wine - Kiss Each Other Clean
87

- Drastic good; 87
- With perhaps the strongest opening track of his career, Kiss Each Other Clean is a crazy, cutting, jumbled, and enjoyable ride that encourage further trips
- While closer to The Shepherd's Dog with its length and track number, I think loop could've been better. Opener and closer are super solid tho
- Iconic and beautiful album art that fits the sensation and vibes perfectly, easily one of the best
- Between this and TSD, you can share it with anyone, especially if ... read more

Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
96

- Historic; 96
- The dysfunctional south and rural oddities combine into this wonderful hodgepodge of sounds, tones, and near-fantastical stories
- Quality-wise, its 49 minutes of super strong tracks, structure-wise, eh. "Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car" while a great opener, is so just much more definitive and enjoyable than the infamous and overrated "Flightless Bird, American Mouth". Also feels more of a jumble than planned/thematic organization
- One of, if not, the best ... read more

Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days [Deluxe Edition]
90

- Fine wine; 90
- Lovely, woody, depressing, and awe-inspiring folk music that transcends its genre
- Normally I would be hesitant of a 20 track loop yet somehow it is so, so good. I decided to review the Deluxe edition because the Demos add so much color and contrast
- I love the album art and how the grey space emphasizes the colors and orientation
- I could share this record with basically anyone I wanted so long as they weren't a chronic video game OST listener or strict metalhead; ... read more

Iron & Wine - The Creek Drank The Cradle
77

- Sleepy; 77
- Softmouthed pastoralism and folk songs with gentle guitar that launched Sam Beam's formal career
- I would like looping the record a lot more if some of the tracks didn't sound so samey
- Album art's too simplistic
- While this is the chronological start for Beam's career, I think I would recommend Shepherd's Dog or Ghost on Ghost
- TCDTC was cruciaL for Beam's career. Establishing his sound, style, breaking conventions, and just so much. Safe to ... read more
