Steely Dan - Everything Must Go
62

- Wet fart; 62
- Awkward, poor length and arranged, and a significant dip in quality
- I rather loop Two Against Nature, and that's saying something
- I am not a fan of the art for the reunion album, they just fall flat
- EMG, is sadly, last and least, so I wouldn't go recommending this to anyone unless they're going through the SD discography
- I wish I could say more about how EMG interacts with the rest of the discography. Yes, its incredibly jazzy and quirky, with a tad ... read more

Steely Dan - Gaucho
87

- Whelming; 87
- The end of an era and style embodied in 7 tracks with the usual Steely Dan energy and ironic sadness
- The loop is actually pretty decent on account of 37 minutes and how "Third World Man" is a fitting closer to the "Babylon Sisters" opener
- Very, very good album art. It's just powerful and fitting for the vibes of the record, not to mention in the context of how difficult it was for this album to be finished
- I'm sharing this as an extension of ... read more

Steely Dan - The Royal Scam
95

- WOW; 95
- My favorite SD record filled with jazzy, addictive tracks and a style that just consumes you
- EZ loop, no doubt about it. Longer songs but around the average number of them
- Unironically my favorite SD album art too, and its only better since apparently its creator hated it and thought it was one of the ugliest album arts ever
- I'm sharing this with anyone I can. No doubt about it
- The Royal Scam changed the game for SD as it transports you to the beginning of the late 70s ... read more

Steely Dan - Katy Lied
88

- Decades underrated; 88
- The black sheep of the SD discography, with risks and rewards and styles like no other
- The loop on here would be magnificent... if it wasn't for the rightfully rough "Everyone's Gone To The Movies". Still at 35 minutes and 10 tracks, the loop could be worse
- Funni little grasshopper, what's not to like
- Unironically a great follow-up recommendation from CBAT, so uh anyone looking to get into SD
- The consistency and coherency here is ... read more

Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic
84

- Troubled release; 84
- The starkest highs and lows of any Steely Dan record in an odd assortment
- The loop here is not great on account of lack of organization and no memorable opener/closer
- CLASSIC album art. Works with the record's theme and the style
- If I'm not sharing the reunion albums with someone because for some reason in this hypothetical I'm sharing weird Steely Dan albums, I'll go with Pretzel Logic
- So much of SD's fame is owed to this record. ... read more

Steely Dan - Countdown to Ecstasy
86

- Overhyped but solid; 86
- A sophomore project that continues being weird and jazzy
- The loop here is good but it does lack distinction since "Bodhisattva" and "King of the World" don't really signify anything in the context of the record
- One of the worst SD album arts; it just doesn't fit with their other styles and its too abstract when the record is so tangible
- You're likely sharing this with a dad or someone that likes jazzy, easy listening
- While ... read more

久石譲 [Joe Hisaishi] - もののけ姫 [Princess Mononoke Soundtrack]
100

- So, this is my 100th review, and I've been putting it off for a long time for a multitude of reasons, but no longer. If you're familiar with any of my reviews, I have a structure with varying points and an aim of formulaic evaluation. Since this is my 100th review, I am abandoning the structure and just writing. Enter at your own risk.

This is my most listened to album. Ever. There is no question about it. I've fallen asleep to it, I've cried to it. I've written ... read more

Dio - Killing the Dragon
62

- Wish it was better; 62
- Dio's second to last studio record is a fitting culmination of his sounds, themes and the reality of the band's discography
- Similar to Dream Evil, the loop here is meh, mostly on account of how weak the last track is and the organization
- Its no Murray, but the colors are great and it represents the record's themes well
- KTD is a bit of a sleeper in the discography, and while its composition isn't amazing, I'd still recommend it
- I like ... read more

Dio - Dream Evil
80

- Serviceable entry; 80
- A mishmash of quality and tracks with a fun overarching theme; the best of the worst of Dio's discography
- The loop here is... fine on account of the lack of coherent structure (tracks don't have a memorable placement among the list) and how the opener and closers are weak in that position. Holy Diver starts on "Stand Up And Shout" and ends on "Shame On The Night". Dream Evil just has "Night People" and "When A Woman ... read more

Dio - The Last in Line
84

- Younger sibling; 84
- As predecessor to one of the most influential records ever, The Last In Line delivers even if its not as good
- Still a solid loop with consistent vibes and an incredibly strong opener and ender; stronger than Holy Diver
- Easily the best Dio album art ever. I highly recommend looking at the full piece, because its amazing
- You can share it with any rock/metal fan, not to mention any dad. It just works
- As the second Dio record, it continues a lot of the same, still ... read more

Dio - Holy Diver
96

- Heavy metal classic; 96
- Iconic, rocking, and timeless bangers delivered during the peak of the legendary Ronnie James Dio's career
- Incredibly loop potential because it's such a clean and tight album composition
- I LOVE MURRAY THAT'S MY GOAT RIGHT THERE; one of the best album covers ever
- Holy Diver's accessibility, from the length of the record and songs, to the style, its just "yeah, course you're gonna try Holy Diver"
- The start of the ... read more

Mountainwolf - Brotherhaze & The Acid Test VOLUME 1
76

- A ride; 76
- 2 songs, almost 50 minutes of jamming, and just shredding
- IDK if I would loop this over Orb Ponderer if we're talking just loop potential, but it's definitely in the running if I wanted jam Mountainwolf
- I Am not a fan of this album art, whatever it is, not to mention no goofy cube guy; feels like its trying too hard
- I am sharing this with people who like to get stoned or go on long drives
- Their most recent entry into their jam side, it definitely has some of ... read more

Mountainwolf - Part 1. Thunder Honey
84

- So strong; 84
- Tightly-constructed experimentation with continuing grooving jams in a perfectly bite-sized package
- THE Mountainwolf release to loop
- My favorite album art from them, not gonna lie. The weird cube guy returns with trippy colors and an odd sense of awe
- I'm sharing a few tracks from this with people, easily. Even if they're not a stoner rock person
- Without a doubt, their best record to date. It's not even close
- The restraint, length, and quality here is ... read more

Mountainwolf - Orb Ponderer
45

- Not my jam; 45
- Long, jamming, grindy, drawn-out sludge rock with the non-sober in mind
- Unironically, their jam stuff is far better for loops because it all just kind of meshes and work together
- Orb Ponderer's album art is actually an in-between of their styles, with the fantasy look but the 3 eyes from the cube guy
- If someone is really, REALLY looking for more pysch, jam rock, I will recommend them this especially for the length
- The record is stand out since it definitely ... read more

Mountainwolf - The Silk Road
53

- Stretching misses; 53
- Maryland 3 piece brings their unique brand of sludge-crawling, pyschedlic rock with strange lyrics
- With the inconsistency of quality between the tracks and how that can be jarring, I wouldn't loop it
- The second appearance of the square dude, I like the green, but it's just an eh album cover
- If someone wanted to get into sludge/stoner rock, I'd recommend a different Mountainwolf album
- As Mountainwolf's first record, it shows some cohesion ... read more

Mountainwolf - #mountainwolf EP
60

- Demos and dooces; 60
- Unproduced, raw demo tracks from the psychedelic jam band with muffled vocals and that homey sound
- Probably not something to loop because of its nature; a loose collection of demo tracks without a cohesive narrative/theme to tie them all together
- Album art's simple and fine, not bad. Definitely their older style (not including the weird cube guy)
- I like sharing this with the usual stoner/jam rock enjoyers
- As one of their earlier works, it's cool to see ... read more

Wallachian Cobwebs - Hearken to the Moon Whisper
93

- Pleasantly horrifying; 93
- Draining dread and dark echoes of the past illustrate a demented, unnerving, and unforgiving world of suffering
- At 31 minutes and 7 tracks, the loop here is pretty solid, with the title track heralding the beginning and the aptly titled "The Stars Touched Midnight" closing it out
- While I much prefer their more recent album's art, Hearken's is undoubtedly effective at being unsettling and just... wrong
- This might be one of the most ... read more

Flobots - Noenemies
92

- A personal reprieve; 92
- Dark, disturbing, and unflinching activism blended with experimental and brash tracks, all held together by a raw and relevant message
- The story here is beautiful crafted yet the loop is difficult to stomach because of the bleeding gloom and dread
- One of their best album arts, calling back to themes in Laputa and prevalent world issues
- This record is not for the faint of heart; definitely not the first Flobots album I would recommend to people
- No Enemies if ... read more

Flobots - The Circle in the Square
85

- Multifaceted & punchy; 85
- A bigger budget, higher production, and a longer length produce an enjoyable album yet suffers in comparison to its predecessors
- At 15 tracks and over 50 minutes long (if I math was correct), the loop here isn't great; easily the weakest in their discography
- I get the meaning of the album art, but it's just so bland compared to their other entries
- Unironically, The Circle In The Square is one of their most accessible records to date, so ... read more

Flobots - Survival Story
94

- Fortune favors the bold; 94
- A mishmash of emotions, messages, rap and rock, that culminates in an oddity that is not just enjoyable, but long-lasting
- The loop here is fine, but that's on account of how staggering and strong the messages are here; they need to be digested and sat with
- One of my favorite album arts. Ever. I literally have it as a poster in my room, and it conveys the struggles of the record perfectly
- I like being obnoxious with sharing songs from this album and it ... read more
