If you enjoy laid-back pop rock, jazz fusion, or even progressive rock, I can’t recommend Katy Lied enough.
Those first three songs keep me going in life. Bad Sneakers is chorus galore. Like it is fucking incredible. Always find myself replaying that honorable flow and grand escapade sound. Doctor Wu is an absolute treat as well. The saxophone of course has incredible sex with the production and the piano is always so jubilant and tearfully groovy and the story, as all Steely Dan stories are, is incredibly distinct and always interesting. Oh my god it was euphoric to hear Steely Dan officially enter the Michael McDonald era. He is such a personal favorite singer. If I wasn’t singing professional Opera repertoire I would totally join a Yacht Rock band.

A bit of a misstep? To pull from Gerard Way, it lacks greatness. Even Bad Sneakers is a bit of a head-scratching single, the melodies just don't come together for me. That said, there's plenty to like — I'm a big fan of every other song, especially Your Gold Teeth II. Love to here these guys take a groove on a walk.
