i caved in..i cant try to be different anymore

while it is mind boggling to think how much this album influenced without being overly innovating, I can't say that it was something missing from my life. it's beautiful, it's aesthetically rich but it doesn't go the extra mile which is my problem with a lot of shoegaze related projects

this album made me realize that i need context for shoegaze to hit, and I was thinking about it in the way that if I had connected a song with something that happened, when i heard that song again it would unequivocally hit me way harder than listening to it raw. I realized that when the now now and never got shuffled randomly and I was familiar with it. its a genre that for me works with some familiarity or connection, otherwise it just doesnt hit the same

second half stronger

some anomalous bangers

if i had one word to describe the tyler renaissance it would just be quality, and even though after his third album there was a collective feeling the tyler sound that both made him unique and less exciting, chromakopia just pushed it further for me. Flower boy felt like the begining of something beautiful, Igor took a left turn with a very strong thematic scope, Call me was a continuation of the sound but Chromakopia feels like both a push of sound and a perfection of it.
