it's a bit repetitive, the singles weren't the best and the majority of the songs are very short. overall it works mostly because of its consistency and its features, although what really stands up is the concept of the album and its spiritual atmosphere.
the album is wayyyy better than what i expected, although this sounds like the voidz 2.0 (i'm okay with this)
favorites: at the door, ode to the mets, eternal summer, selfless
the first half of the album sounds the same to me; same old lyrics, beats, nothing new. the second half, however, is a mix between the 80’s and future pop, which is really pleasant and very promising.
i could’ve seen this becoming a classic in twenty years, if the album was somewhat more consistent and nostalgic.
favorites: blinding lights, in your eyes
post animal has a new album, but this time a lot more heavier and darker (!). vocals are nice, instrumental is nice, guitar is nice, everything is nice.
except for the reviews. i can't understand how this isn't rated higher. the sound is completely different from their discography, yes, but its equally good, if not better.
favorites: in a paradise, damaged goods
i may have a big problem with porches. i swear i try but everytime i listen to one of their albums i have to make a big, big effort to finish it. boring and blatant
da chick comes back with her second album, this time more consistent and diversed. i like the production but like its precedent, the voice is a big turn off. it's such a shame because she's a great dj and has an immense talent
grimes does another yet remarkable work with her newest futuristic electro-pop ‘miss anthropocene’ album, with ecletic and versatile melodies, combined with dark lyrics and an extraordinary production
favorites: violence, 4æm, new gods, my name is dark, we appreciate power, delete forever
it's good but that's just it. the singles are the best part of the album - the rest of the songs are fillers and are pretty forgettable. not the worst album but it's definitely not the best.
favorite tracks: borderline, posthumous forgiveness, breathe deeper
EDIT: i've already listened to this 4 times since the album was released on spotify. had listened to the first leak and then the second. and this just keeps getting worse and worse.
‘borderline’ is definitely the track that ... read more
overall, the instrumentals are decent, the lyrics are generic; the voice is a bit cringe sometimes
nothing much to say honestly, doesn't live up to the hype
god i wish i knew this was a pop punk album, i wouldn't have wasted 1 hour of my life
being ‘a laughing death in meatspace’ one of my most adored albums of 2018, i can’t express how disappointed i felt after finishing this one. it’s not only the quality that dropped, it’s also the production and, most importantly, their unique refreshing style of messy guitars and angst vocals. such a shame for a band that had so much potential. honestly hope they can recover from this and go back to their characteristic sound.
favorite track: maria 63
started the album thinking this was gonna be folk-ish à la mumford and sounds, but was deadly wrong. it’s surprisingly good
favorite track: imagination
while i was listening to this, i kept having little déjà vus; tried thinking where i had listened this before and got to the point where i was getting frustrated. and then i remembered: it’s a mix of the last decade pop music that you’re gonna find at your local radio channel
nothing new here; there were songs, like ‘look at me now’ that had the potencial of becoming good pop songs but ended being dull and almost lifeless. overall there is no innovation ... read more
