Quadeca - i.ii.iii
70

Cool Quadeca ambient shit. My goat I love you. I give this a "Vanisher end credits" out of 10.

Turnstile - Pressure To Succeed
60

I honestly liked this one more than Step to Rhythm which I wasn't expecting. Still clearly a very early example of their abilities and a bit one-note in the direction they're going for, but it's honestly just a good time and there's more room for Brendan Yate's vocals on here compared to the other EP. The songs themselves are short but they still do change up around similar to their next EP. Also some of the lyrics on here are funny to me, especially Death Grip cause ... read more

Turnstile - Step 2 Rhythm
50

I'm listening to all of Turnstile's music ahead of seeing them live at Rockville early next month and since I've only really heard their stuff from Glow On and onwards, I've decided to check out their earliest stuff. I already realized I messed this up since there's ANOTHER EP that comes before this one, but its ok and I'll review this one already anyway. While it didn't really stand out to me a whole bunch there's still a good bit to like about this ... read more

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
80

I honestly don't know much at all about Slayyyter but this album has been very hyped leading up to release and is currently being very hyped after its come out. It's a raw and visceral dancy album and the kind of care-free, dirty, and braggadocios party energy we should all be bringing into this year (trust me on summer 2026 guys trust meeeeee). Honestly this doesn't even really feel like something to write a super formal review about, but rather just encourage myself and I guess ... read more

Alvvays - Blue Rev
100

Blue Rev is one of those albums that didn't make sense to me until I listened to it in a different way, that being on the cassette copy that I got with an already cracked case that has only gained more cracks and scratches with time. Mind you, this was one of the first shoegaze or noise pop albums I had ever listened to, but listening on cassette for my second relisten all that time ago made everything make sense and the limited technology improved it for me in a way. I think a big thing ... read more

Lip Critic - Hex Dealer
90

In the lead up to Lip Critic's new album, I decided to check out the album that introduced me to them. Honestly 2024 was extremely packed and was my first year actively trying to listen to new stuff and I think I let this slide under the radar just a bit too quickly. It's EXTREMELY catchy, like this made wearing my headphones really addicting honestly and there is so much going on in the production, namely the drums/percussion for me which is honestly bonkers on every song. The hooks ... read more

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Teenage Gizzard

King Gizzard Album Deep Dive - Part 1

I have finally decided to dive into King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's music more in depth as someone who's heard them sporadically over the past few years of discovering new music yet also owns several vinyl records of their's and follows their social media and fanbase just because I find them so interesting. So firstly I decided to start with Teenage Gizzard, a compliation of their oldest recorded material from a few loose EPs and ... read more

underscores - U
80

Following her very story driven and more rock influenced Wallsocket, our queen underscores comes back with a more straightforward and upbeat direction similar to that of her earlier work. Its filled with a fun and utopian energy (even on the more mellow tracks) and matches the mall theme of the cover in my opinion. It feels like something a flash mob would dance to and honestly I fw that heavy. I think the highlights for me are definitely the singles that were already out as I feel they capture ... read more

Black Country, New Road - For the first time
90

It's been a fair bit since I've written something and honestly I think it is just really hard to put how I feel about a piece of music into words, let alone a "score." I decided to listen to something from my record collection, the windmill scene staple that is Black Country New Road's debut album. I distinctly remember the first time listening to this, it was in the car on my way to see my sister who was (and still is lol) in college. I think it had a large effect on ... read more

Jane Remover - Revengeseekerz
100

Revengeseekerz was one of the most defining albums of 2025 for me and Jane themselves literally took over that entire year (lead single on new year's day lmao). They released lots of music throughout the year but Revengeseekerz was the main event and frankly that makes perfect sense. I was thinking maybe this wouldn't be a 10, only because sometimes when listening I find the album to be just a tad bit long, but looking through that tracklist...yeah basically every track here is ... read more

George Clanton - Slide
100

This has always been my go to study or late night album. I personally find this album so beautiful and basically its own little world to get lost in for 40 minutes. The synths and sounds used here are top tier (a usual for George Clanton) and I'm such a sucker for some baggy drums. This entire thing is essentially the definition of vibe to me, really just making me feel cool and validated and peaceful and swaggy and melancholic and life affirmed every time I listen and bop to it. This ... read more

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA Afterglow
70

Afterglow, the sequel to Eusexua, is still intimately tied to this "era" of Twigs's music but is actually really different than that album and maybe even better. I find this album to be a lot more vibrant and colorful to be honest and I just overall find the vibe to be more dancy and layered. In a way that's maybe what these albums are, with Eusexua being the more revealing and honest look into her complex and spiraling mindset and Afterglow being this sort of euphoric ... read more

Maruja - Pain to Power
80

This was a notable release for me last year and for good reason, Maruja crafts something so immediately gripping and necessary for when it came out (and still necessary some months later). All across this thing is crazy sax parts and manic drumming mixed with Harry's upfront and poetic performances. I think the most important songs to me are also the ones I return to the most, those being Look Down On Us, Saoirse, and Reconcile. The first of which is basically the thesis of this whole ... read more

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA
70

I've always kinda seen FKA Twigs like this alien creature making music, which I guess is the intended aesthetic, and while I feel that sometimes keeps me from having a super personal connection to her music, it still makes for really interesting production and song structures all throughout here. I actually listened to this back on release night and had it on rotation for a fair bit at the time but dropped it for whatever reason. But it's still fairly good and there are some very ... read more

80

I have finally gotten to this classic and amongst some of the most brought up again albums I've seen in my years of discovering music. Obviously I knew the hits (Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come as You Are, Something in the Way) but I was actually surprised to see I didn't know much at all of the material on here, but it's classic status for a reason and the energy is top tier on here. This is way more developed into sound than Bleach (still good by the way) and I can definitely ... read more

Paramore - This Is Why
90

I have yet to listen to more of Paramore's catalogue but I've had this on CD for a while and always enjoy putting it on. Just great writing and performances all throughout, fronted by Hayley's stellar vocals. Literally banger after banger (the first four tracks are a fantastic run), and I feel like this would be like a certified road trip album to be honest. And even the more emotional tracks like Big Man, Little Dignity and Liar are really beautiful and fantastically performed. ... read more

Duster - Stratosphere
90

Stratosphere has been soundtracking certain little collections of days in my life since like late last year (and most lately this week) and I honestly had trouble figuring out how I would rate it since I usually listen to it to sleep or forget about my problems. It's a very slow, ethereal project and I think the band captures feelings of just being low and feeling numb but also possess this feeling of hope that keeps me coming back. I love the energy on here so much, it's really a ... read more

Nirvana - Bleach
70

Continuing on the Grunge search, I decided to check out probably one of the most famous bands from the scene and since they only have a few albums anyways I'll probably rate them all today. This one's a lot more loose than the Soundgarden album and future stuff Nirvana would do and it still manages to be pretty good and has some bops. Chat Pile recently did a cover of the track Sifting from here which also piqued my interest. It kind of all bounces around these fast punk-ish songs and ... read more

bl4ck m4rket c4rt - Today I Laid Down
80

I listened to this a long time ago and didn't really remember it, but I had some spare time and decided to check it out again. This is very short and intimate and it feels like shrinking down into your smallest parts or balling up like the cat on the cover art and just letting it take you away. The guitar playing is nice and it's mixed with simple electronic ambience and more noisy, chugging guitar for atmosphere. Some very warm songs and more tired, slow muses, all led by the ... read more

Soundgarden - Superunknown
80

I've been trying to get into more grunge music lately, mostly because I'm undergoing a sort of identify crisis and trying to figure out who I wanna be and what scenes I wanna tap into. Naturally I've kind of fallen in love with grunge culture for some months now and their shit is mostly derived from the music itself so I figured it was a good idea to start somewhere. I'm glad I vibed with this cause I've been pretty loosely exposed to the genre but haven't delved ... read more

You wrote a very thorough review with your thoughts, something that i personally struggle to do, and still acknowledged what went into the album without mindlessly hating because it has a high score. Plus you still acknowledge the parts you did like. Mad respect on that part"
