Pinned Review

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
100

I finally finished my 100th review!! I just started this account a couple months ago to keep track of the music that I listen to, it's crazy that I've already listened to and talked about so much music, thanks to anyone who's read or interacted with any of my reviews! :)
Anyways, for my 100th reviews I wanted to talk about one of my favorite albums of all time, and probably the most important album in my life in general, so here it is:

TW: Suicide, depression, addiction

Haven't done a review in a while but I'll put in the effort for Ethel Cain, I loved this so fucking much.

It’s still the first week of the new year but this was definitely the project I was most excited for in 2025, Preacher’s Daughter is in my top 5 albums of all time, and I knew she was going in a totally different direction sonically with this album but I was so excited to see what Hayden did here, I was a little nervous after finding about how this would be ... read more

This is one of my favorites. This album was made by Krysten Ritter, who I think is best known for playing Jane in Breaking Bad, I don’t care too much for film and television in general, but I guess she’s my favorite actor/actress: I read her book, “Bonfire”, and watched Jessica Jones a few years ago and I really loved both, so I went diving for more information to see if she had done anything else outside of acting and book writing, and I ended up finding this little ... read more

First review in a while, and it'll still be a shorter one... taking 5 English classes for college this semester and the writing is kicking my ass.
I'm just now finding out that people fucking HATE this album, and I mean, I do understand why, but I've always been a fan of some of her music, this album at least. I think most of the themes and subjects she sings about are very interesting, and it's true that there are a lot of pretty cringy lines, but nothing that ruins any of ... read more

I really love the concept for this album, but even though nothing was bad at all, the execution didn't always work for me perfectly. I think for the most part the lyricism is super strong, with Halsey diving deep into her own relationship with death, relationships, depression, and fame, but unfortunately the instrumentation and overall songwriting doesn't always really match that same quality for me.

Kiss Me kinda carries this album ngl. I’ve gotten way too many tutorials on social media for how to play that song on guitar recently, and it seemed like it would be a cute little Autumn album so I decided to listen to the whole thing, and, yeah, it’s basically just that, just pretty pleasant, cute folk pop music, and while a lot of the songs are pretty forgettable, it’s never bad.
