I would say that I would get up to turn this off, but honestly, I likely wouldn't realize it's on, as it barely qualifies as music. I'd probably just assume someone was microwaving something in an adjacent room. Feels like a waste to spend 38 minutes on this. Annoying at its worst and inoffensive at its peak. Not for me.
I love this album.
It is a perfect story of the dangers of self-isolation and self-loathing, and while the album addresses the causes of these emotions; a Father dying at war, a Mother being far too protective, the perpetual state of warfare and poorly funded educational institutions, it does not use these causes as vindications or excuses for Pink's behaviors which result from his rough upbringing. This album shows that a person can beat themselves down as much as they want, but at the ... read more
The song 'Cry for Me' carried this like 8 points higher for me. Still a pretty album and really enjoyed it but not one id go back to on my own. However that song is really, really good :)
Really some of the most emotion I've ever felt in writing/lyrics and performed equally as passionately making this album a constant in my rotation.
I really liked this but I liked TPAB more upon listening to each one single time
Not my favorite outing from Neil but his collaboration with Pearl Jam makes it really unique and definitely one I'll be coming back to more in the future
I'll have to relisten when I can focus on the lyrics more. Nothing really grabbed me, and there were only a few points where I felt some strong emotion. I'm not sure what I'm missing here but hoping it like it a lot more on the next go round.
Neil's most experimental and divisive album by far. For me, it sticks the landing, though to be sure I prefer his other style of art much more, and I'm glad this was a one off experiment and not a transition (get it) to a full blown new genre for him
Some of my favorite Joni Mitchell songs on here. Really good stuff. Poignant lyrics and her voice is just as raw and emotional as usual. album earns its reputation
I can never get a true understanding of what these albums are trying to do. I think I just consume a different type of music. Nothing grabbed me but there were a few parts I did like. However, there were a few parts that were just a little bit 'all at once' for me. I think I'm just not the guy these are made for, so user error on my part really. Obviously, I can see the artist has a lot of talent and I think if the vocals were a lot less altered Id enjoy it more, but that'd ... read more
Really enjoyed the psychedelic-prog rock roots i was detecting here. Enjoyed this alot more than I thought I would.
An album which tackles many different themes and touches on a lot of emotions for me. Young's lyrics, vocals and specifically instrumentation particularly with the violin and harmonica, are some of my favorite across all music.
Bowie's swansong is as experimental and glamorous as the rest of his prolific career. While I certainly prefer his older bodies of work, there is no doubt the talent on display here is testimony to his well-earned status as a legend. The album provides an entirely unique and haunting listening experience.
Really, really nice. some of the songs went a bit long, and I usually like songs a lot but some of them were a little too electronic-sounding focused to me. Some of the vocals were hard for me to fully understand at some points but that's a skill issue. would and probably will revisit this one.
