Erika de Casier's "Lifetime" is a pleasant listen, but also pretty unremarkable, too.
With some interesting ideas, song patterns and samples here and there, "Lifetime" shows some creativity, but it is lost in a sea of unremarkable ideas, patterns, sounds and themes. The soundscape of the record isn't bad at all, but I wish there was more done with it, as in the 30 minute runtime nothing can really be explored, and what's there isn't enough. The vocals ... read more
Mark Pritchard and Thom Yorke came together with "Tall Tales" to do.. nothing?
"Tall Tales" is an electronic, gltichy, kind of ambient, very barebones record. Way too barebones. On many songs, straight up nothing happens. There's an electronic, thin, nothing-like instrumental with some very questionable vocals above it. That is, only if there are actually are vocals, and not just some distorted robotic voice over..
The lyrics are not god awful, but Thom Yorke shows ... read more
"Even In Arcadia" is a horribly bland, uninspired and boring record from an equally boring and bland band.
With artificially overstretched songs, long meandering yet meaningless sounds and with painfully corny and empty lyrics, Sleep Token's "Even In Arcadia" is a terribly painful record.
It's been a long time since I've been tempted to turn off a record so much, but Sleep Token managed to do it. It's just so painfully empty of anything meaningful, of ... read more
A refreshingly light hearted and fun project from PinkPantheress.
PinkPantheress once again shows that she's a generational hirmaker, as "Fancy That" is a compilation of banger after banger. With a beautiful blend of dance pop ans drum and bass, the instrumentals are surpsingly creative, from softer and mellow, to more electronic and faster.
She delivers a great performance over these great instrumentals vocally, and while the writing isn't great, I wouldn't call it ... read more
Kali Uchis' "Sincerely," is a drop dead gorgeous, intimate and almost heavenly record.
From the very first second, this record sets a very high bar, and doesn't dip below it. The truly stunning, dreamy production, Kali Uchis' incredible and beautiful vocals with the great songwriting come together to create quite possibly the most beautiful album this year.
"Sincerely," is a genuine, heartfelt and mesmerizing record. Mostly musing on the oldest topic there ... read more
Mei Semones' "Animaru" is an angelical beautiful, peaceful and mellow, short but sweet experience.
With just a 37 minute runtime, "Animaru" archives an incredible atmosphere, part with its subtle, gentle instrumentation and with the otherworldly, angelic vocals. With this backdrop the album explores mostly -what else- love. Both the beautiful, scenic, naive love and also the heartbreak, the tough decisions.
The songs flows into each other smoothly, and yet ... read more
Model/Actriz's "Piroutte" is a hell of an emotional rollercoaster.
From by far the best production I heard this year, amazing songwriting and vocal performances to the sheer vulnerability displayed all throughout the record, "Piroutte" is currently the best album I've heard this year so far.
Whether chaotic and hypnotizing, or slow and gentle, Model/Actriz can't seem to miss. The often violent clash of the fast-paced and restless instrumentals and soft ... read more
Natalia Lafourcade's "Cancionera" is gentle and subtle, yet very moving and powerful.
With simple but effective instrumentation, and soul touching vocals and poetic writing, "Cancionera" evokes very strong feelings. From faster paced, energetic tracks, to the slow and sensual, almost melancholic tracks, "Cancionera" doesn't fail to tug on the heartstrings.
While not the most ambitious album ever, "Cancionera" achieves what it set out to do, ... read more
Viagra Boys returns with a fun, catchy and infectious snarky record.
Blending social commentary with tounge-in-cheek one liners, with some really incredibly fun punk instrumentals and ideas to really set the scene, "viagr aboys" Is quite the ride. Just to spin your head some mores there's a couple surprisingly melancholic tracks amidst the Insanity, which in contrast to the seriously unserious tracks beside them, hit like a freight train.
The social commentary, while not ... read more
After 6 years, Bon Iver returns with a beautiful and hopeful one last farewell, "SABLE, fABLE".
With the beautiful, often subtle but powerful instrumentals and Justin Vernon's truly passionate vocals, this record goes easy on the ears, but heavy on the heart.
Fittingly, the album is mostly centered around the past, the future and moving on, with themes of love and longing sprinkled in- it wouldn't be a Bon Iver album without those. The band handles these subjects quite ... read more
By "More Chaos" Ken Carson meant more uninspired production, more sleepy flows and somehow even more corny bars.
"More Chaos" feels like just a worse, more uninspired and blander version of "I AM MUSIC". It's like that album was gutted of any creativity and appeal it had left, Ken Carson thought up the corniest lyrics and worst vocals he could, then called it a day.
The only saving grace of this album is the couple songs that didn't make me regert ... read more
Marina Sena's "Coisas Naturais" is easily one of the most beautiful and heartfelt projects I've heard in a good while.
While I'm definitely not an expert on Latin Pop, but I've always loved the genre, and this record is almost everything I want from such a record.
While the lyrical work is definitely not incredibly deep or thought provoking, it works really well in the sound and context of the album. The writing fits the music very well, basically.
But the real ... read more
"Forever Howlong" can be best described as a warm, bittersweet but familiar voice striking through a cold night.
After 3 years, Black Country, New Road returns. Even though they had to adapt to Isaac Wood leaving the band, they carried on, and released their 3rd full length project, "Forever Howlong".
And to put it simply, this was not a let down by any standard. Though of course, it isn't as good as their previous record, "Ants From Up There", it still ... read more
A refreshingly interesting and nuanced metal record.
This is the first project I've ever heard from Deafheaven, and it was apleasent experience. While I usually like metal, black metal is something that never really clicked for me, aside from a couple records. But "Lonely People with Power" pulls off something really great, it blends sounds, ideas and genres together in really an amazing way, and it blew me away.
For the most part, It has great instrumentation, song structures, ... read more
Incredibly powerful, beautiful, creative and it's all executed perfectly ..Like Clockwork.
Across just 10 tracks and 46 minutes Queens of the Stone Age delivers an absolutely unforgettable record. From fun, powerful bangers all the way to soul crushing masterpieces, "..Like Clockwork" has it all. Incredible instrumentation, flawless vocal performances, great themes and lyrics, there's just basically nothing to critique.
It's very consistent and has one of the highest ... read more
"For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women)" is short, sweet and beautiful.
Well, I'm not any of those things, but this album was a great experience. Not really grandiose, or ambitious, but it's beautiful, sweet and very gentle. The fragile, lush instrumentation and the equally ethereal vocal performances makes this album a great experience.
But the thing that makes this album special is really also the thing stopping it from being even better. It is great for what it is, ... read more
Saba & No I.D.'s collaboration project has everything what a conscious hip hop record needs to be great, amazing production, great lyrics, catchy hooks and some genuinely very meaningful moments.
I've been a fan of quite a lot of Saba's work before this albums release, but this record was a surprise, even for me. While there's a couple of shorter tracks that have less content, even this tracks are fun or catchy in some way.
The production all around is incredible, and ... read more
Carti returns after 5 years, and I'm.. not disappointed?
First off, fuck Playboi Carti, and fuck AI. Carti is a piece of shit, and the fact he used AI after 'working' on this for 5 years is a fucking disgrace.
But what I'm actually hearing here.. is not that bad, really. It's bloated, and there's plenty of tracks that shouldn't be on here at all, because they're truly nothing more than filler to make up for a 5 year hiatus. Plenty people have said, but ... read more
Boring, bland, and corny as all hell.
Lady Gaga returns with "MAYHEM", which is anything but. It's 53 damn minutes of either the corniest stuff you've ever heard, or just boring, basic pop songs that mean nothing at all. 123 million monthly listeners for this?
Not every song is terrible, there's couple I've enjoyed a fair amount, but most of this is straight up embarrassing. You can't be pushing 40 and aking songs like "The Beast", holy hell.

Aside from fun, "Club Shy Room 2" has really not much to offer the listener.
At just a 14 minute runtime, the new EP from Shygirl is very underwhelming. With pretty basic electronic, dance pop production, run of the mill lyrics and nothing extraordinary vocal performances, there's not much to take away from here.
But then again.. it is fun. I found myself enjoying this more than I wanted to. While the first 3 songs aren't good, the latter 3 are actually quite enjoyable. ... read more
