i don't like giving out 100s.
i hate the way a lot of people review music on this site, trying to objectify their reviews of album based off of metric review systems or basing its score off of how many flaws it has. to me, this is completely against what makes music so beautiful. the fact there isn't any real metric or objectiveness to it all. its all just a beautiful expression of an artist's ideas and tastes into something we can listen to and hear and be consumed by. there is ... read more
I have a whole think piece in my mind about this album and how the narrative following jpeg and the ways both him and the wider community have contributed to it connect to different things. an erasure of individual opinion in culture and an unfortunate correlation between how much an artist, especially rappers, are expected to be morally perfect and politically correct with how much they are marketed as so.

i genuinely cannot believe i haven't heard anything off of this earlier. a complete and utter marvel in the world of house and funk that left my brain melted by the end of it. every song hits you with these beautiful grooves, basslines, chords, melodies, it's hard to get past this musically.
my qualms with this album are very brief, in that some songs are like 7/10s rather than 8.5 and above. the VIC MENSA track didn't blow me away, breakdance ... read more
