Vince Staples - Cry Baby
93

vince staples is the only one angry enough right now holy fuck

every song is incredible no notes completely mind-blowing album

JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
79

I have a whole think piece in my mind about this album and how the narrative following jpeg and the ways both him and the wider community have contributed to it connect to different things. an erasure of individual opinion in culture and an unfortunate correlation between how much an artist, especially rappers, are expected to be morally perfect and politically correct with how much they are marketed as so.

instead I’m going to say that JPEGMAFIA is the low tier god of rap okay bye I ... read more

OutKast - Stankonia

ain’t nobody loves fucking bitches like these two godDAMN

im glad I chose to commit to a full listen of this album at this stage of my journey listening to all of these records, I tried listening years ago but after bombastic opener Gasoline Dreams I guess the mellow sound of the following songs didn’t appeal to me?

Yeah I think it’s as stupid as you think it is, Stankonia is an album full of brilliantly composed track, embodying both captivating rap and funk songwriting. ... read more

1000 Rabbits - Are We Friends Yet?
89

when you go to a 1000 rabbits live show but there’s only 5 of them

you and I mean YOU reading this have to tap in to this fucking band, their shit is so damn good it’s crazy. I caught wind of 1000 rabbits from their incredible single “Virgin Soil”, featuring eclectic chamber pop production and a captivating song structure starting out with slow, winding guitars and strings before evolving into an explosive finish with aggressive drums and screaming vocals.

safe to say ... read more

Minji - Big Sky Hunting
89

genuinely a super impressive project, i caught wind of minji through a spotify playlist which introduced me to the beautiful song "were we in the clouds?", boasting very dreamy production and the explosive addition of drums halfway through the songs making the emotional lyrics all the more poignant. since then, i've had it on my list and listened to it in full today and damn! this shit is kind of incredible actually!

every song pretty much executes its dreamy sound in a ... read more

oh my days this summer is SAVED

i genuinely cannot believe i haven't heard anything off of this earlier. a complete and utter marvel in the world of house and funk that left my brain melted by the end of it. every song hits you with these beautiful grooves, basslines, chords, melodies, it's hard to get past this musically.

my qualms with this album are very brief, in that some songs are like 7/10s rather than 8.5 and above. the VIC MENSA track didn't blow me away, breakdance ... read more

Paramore - brand new eyes
80

more like band new eyes because paramore is a great band

first off, yes this album is pretty great, songs like ignorance, brick by boring brick, the only exception, misguided ghosts and obviously all i wanted are incredible works of pop punk, alt rock, and even some beautiful guitar ballads. hayley williams' (fine shyt) vocals are incredible as always and i absolutely recommend this album

the only thing i have to say is that i do not get whatsoever how this is their most acclaimed work ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - War Over Land

this beat is very fucking beautiful and very experimental, thank you very much expegimafia rap I BEG people to stop bouncing on online narratives and drama bro if this shit came out ILDMLFY era ts would be an 85 rated minimum

JPEGMAFIA - babygirl
90

jpeg fans rating this low is because they’ve never had a “babygirl” themselves

Magdalena Bay - Nice Day: A Collection of Singles
92

holy fuck

listen as someone who, while having enjoyed imaginal disk, did not see it as the life-changing, mind-blowing, ground-breaking record that it seems most hold it up to, I definitely felt all of those emotions and more listening to Nice Day. (Not the song though that was the lowlight by far lmao) im super super glad I decided not to listen to the singles til this came out because hearing them all as a whole was an utterly incredible experience, even if they aren’t technically a ... read more

Paramore - Riot!
82

now we’re TALKING

to be clear, Riot! by Paramore is an extremely volatile case to me in the fact that any other album that is composed of half high highs and half apathetic lows would not rate this highly, but it’s just the high highs on this shit are so GOOD!! FAPIPO, “that’s what you get”, “hallelujah”, fucking “MISERY BUSINESS” BRO??? “CRUSHCRUSHCRUSH”… no other words.

I don’t give a fuck if the rest of the ... read more

Paramore - All We Know Is Falling
75

and so the parathon begins…

it’s crazy how the album is called all we know is falling when in reality the band rised to become so peak after this album, but this is still a great start with some amazing songs and a genuinely horrifying existential realization that Hayley Williams was like 15 or smth when this dropped while I’m out here a strong 17 years of age crying at English exams. absolutely impressive that she was able to pull this off so young and obviously her vocals ... read more

Thundercat - Distracted
95

ALBUM OF THE FUCKING YEAR IVE BEEN KNEW IT

the last line of the entire album is “Maybe I should start an onlyfans and show some feet”, how could it not be album of the year??? the amount of mind-blowing, 10/10 songs on this album is simply unmatched by anything else released so far in 2026. “Distracted” radiates so much positive, eccentric, and outright beautiful energy. The production is top-notch as always, the fucking features are amazing (KEVIN PARKER MY GLORIOUS ... read more

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
89

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Slayyyter is an artist I have never had much experience with, aside from hearing her song "Daddy AF" from her self-titled mixtape and finding it very endearing. Once I saw earlier this year that the top singles of this year were completely dominated by her, I was more interested in listening to the album, and look at that this shit is fucking amazing!

The aesthetics and ... read more

Lupe Fiasco - DRILL MUSIC IN ZION

THATS WHY HES MY MOTHERFUCKING GOAT MAN

it’s so satisfying finishing off this journey through the highs and lows of this man’s discography with the irrefutable high that is DRILL MUSIC IN ZION. we’ve gone through some dogshit on the way but I’m so happy we end with a banger

I mean the sheer prowess displayed here is to die for, the beats, the catchy hooks (ESPECIALLY on the title track), the fucking bars? NAOMI had Lupe rapping: “
All that beautiful musical ... read more

Lupe Fiasco - DROGAS WAVE
81

“don’t ruin us god said” doesn’t even stand for DROGAS, is he stupid?

extremely refreshing to listen to an amazing Lupe fiasco album for once, especially after listening to the Tel Aviv triple decker that is lasers, food and liquor 2, and Drogas light. the sheer thematic density on this project is genuinely unrivaled by any other artist in the field, powered entirely by Lupe Fiasco’s top-tier lyricism as always.

there’s obviously the complaints about the ... read more

BTS - ARIRANG
70

BTS dropped a better album than denzel curry in 2026 the world definitely ended 6 years ago

first off the 100 bombing is extremely funny, I urge BTS fans to 100 bomb ninajirachi next.

second off, genuinely not bad at all. some songs i didn't like (hooligan, last 3 tracks or whatever they were cooking with the white noise interlude) but there were others i really enjoyed

body to body was a really great banger to start the album out with, FYA is the most dream blunt rotation group of ... read more

Lupe Fiasco - DROGAS Light

YOU CAN STREAM THE ALBUM ON SILK ROOOOOAD

I honestly thought after hearing the fucking banger that is the intro that this album was way underrated and AOTY users just hate fun music as always

I was wrong the rest of it sucks but you know at least I really liked the first one 😭

Macintosh Plus - Floral Shoppe
88

GOING THROUGH THE /MU/ ESSENTIALS #16: FLORAL SHOPPE

only rated this high because I downloaded Bandcamp to listen to this album and that made me discover Ninajirachi, thank you transsexuals

This album is probably the one I’ve been wanting to listen to for the longest, like since genuinely ~2019 or something when I was still in middle school. It’s also one I listened to a long time ago, around fall 2025, and only now have I come around to reviewing it

And like… it’s ... read more
