A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb

user score is only this low because WESTSIDE GUNN DIDNT HAVE A VERSE MAN FUCK YOU

uhhh idk about you guys but i really really enjoyed this project. Every song was produced to perfection and aside from like WHISKEY (RELEASE ME) pissing me off because wsg didn’t rap, and maybe STOP SNITCHING and bonus track SWAT TEAM, every song had me giving myself whiplash with the headbutts.

picking favorites is really difficult with this album because there’s so many highlights. PUNK ROCKY ... read more

WOAH NICHE AOTY USER KRUDD! HOLD YOUR HORSES OLD PAL WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT DEADBEAT 95?

yes. i wholeheartedly believe this, in fact i loved this album so much that i decided to dedicate my 200th review on the site to it, so thank you karen parkour for making this because i feel like there's a lot to say about what it means.

so to be clear, tame impala became my favorite artist in 2025 and it was just in time for him to release a new album. and goddamn, people fucking hated ... read more

Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo & Youth

Lupe had to be the ONE guy to get two 99s didn’t he

just bar none far and away a mind blowing album. The sheer length and substance of Tetsuo and Youth, shown by not a single non-interlude track going below 3 and a half minutes, definitely makes it feel extremely imposing, especially with the first full song on the album being fucking Mural. And man does it deliver with a spectacle nigh unmatched by similar hip hop acts. The musically dense production on songs like Blur My Hands and Body ... read more

THE METS BABY GOTTA LOVE THE METS

what a fucking step up from is this it. I don’t really care to listen to what’s in between but goddamn this is definitely an amazing (I’m assuming last) hurrah for their discography. Songs like the adults are talking, selfless, and ode to the Mets are so effortlessly catchy and yet beautifully melancholic, and they actually mixed the fucking instruments this time!! AND I CAN HEAR JULIAN CUCKABLANCAS!! AND HIS WRITING IS GOOD! AND HIS HIGH ... read more

GOING THROUGH THE /MU/ ESSENTIALS #14: IS THIS IT

julian casablancas you fucking dog

yeah safe to say i didn't enjoy this one nor do i actually understand the reason behind its status as a modern rock classic. songs like someday and hard to explain are obviously catchy and enjoyable highlights within the tracklist, but the rest of the album genuinely did not offer much to me aside from passable, underproduced garage rock.

i think to an extent the main problem i have with albums such as ... read more

the French did it again, never in my life will I ever once more doubt these fucking geniuses

Giorgio by Moroder sucked the soul out of my body especially starting from that string section. That combined with the sentimental value of making it a tribute/interview with the father of EDM makes it the best by far.

mind-blowing shit and almost feels like a last hurrah before their departure despite it occurring many years after this album came out. Thank you desse punkman for being the GOATs of ... read more

GOING THROUGH THE /MU/ ESSENTIALS #13: LONERISM

okay so if it somehow isn’t clear enough, my favorite artist at the VERY LEAST this year is Tame Impala. Currents, The Slow Rush, and even now Deadbeat (which I’ll have to re-review eventually) are some of my favorite albums ever and as someone who does music production as a hobby, the sheer genius behind some of the compositional and production choices on all three of those works are simply to die for.

But there was a glaring spot ... read more

GOING THROUGH THE /MU/ ESSENTIALS #12: DISCOVERY

My fellow Americans, I must deeply apologize for ever disliking Daft Punk.

I was ignorant I must admit, maybe it was out of a lack of taste, maturity, you name it. But the disrespect I treated Daft Punk with, "Ohh they just say the same thing a hundred times every song" and "Ohh their shit is boring there's much better music", I am bold enough to admit that I was being a gay loser and my opinion was incorrect.

I ... read more

I need at least two more whimsical and joyous albums after this, this dude’s life is terrible holy fuck glad he’s okay right now

currents is better sorry y’all

listen I liked this album a lot okay? the singing was great, the production was absolutely the standout and it’s genuinely crazy what Matt was able to accomplish here, but I really did not get that many tracks I’d want to relisten to from here.

Like Killing Time obviously, and it was super cool seeing it pop off as a leitmotif across the rest of the record. Image was cool but I don’t think it was the mind-breaking masterpiece people ... read more

GOING THROUGH THE /MU/ ESSENTIALS #11: ILLINOIS

sufjan stevens just fucked my ears better than he’s ever probably fucked a dude in his life holy fuck

What a spectacular fucking album man. That’s the best way to describe it. Every emotion you could ever want to feel, from childlike joy to heartbreaking grief to optimistic triumph, Stevens’ delivers on it perfectly, with a meticulously composed orchestral masterpiece of an album.

I have no idea what otherworldly spirit possessed me to relisten to this project but holy fuck, this is probably the wittiest, most fucking hysterical crop of tracks I’ve listened to in so long.

Back when I was on my nerdcore fabloo horrified of women phase, my main artists were Will Wood, Tally Hall, and of course Lemon Demon. Now I don’t know if I’ve become more neurotypical or if I just grew up, but I fell out of love with these artists a while ago and aside from ONE Will ... read more

forgot to review this when I listened, but when I heard Alfredo was getting a surprise sequel I was honestly slightly skeptical. I liked the first album but I thought it was a bit overrated, and while I liked 1995 it wasn't the most jaw-dropping song ever to me. But then this shit came out and holy fuck, not only did Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist create such a strong tracklist of 14 songs but they somehow made this sequel album outdo the original.

over the course of my journey educating myself on Lupe Fiasco after being blown away by Food & Liquor, I ended up landing on his latest body of work , Samurai. I actually was considering listening to this when it came out a year ago but I guess I never got around to it. And goddamn, do I regret it, this shit is fucking amazing bro
