this is proof the world ended in 2020 and we’ve been living in hell ever since because Kanye’s latest album did not have a single song better than this one
IT’S OUR DIFFERENCES THAT MAKE US BEAUTIFUUUUL
To be perfectly clear, the last time you motherfuckers glazed an album to this high of a user score it was a boring derivative folktronica album that was only capable of invoking feeling if listened to with the pretense that it will. But this time? Nah, you’re right this time.
While I’d probably edge Clipse out slightly higher due to my inherent hip-hop bias, I do think that this is probably the album of the year considering the ... read more
Edit: 90-99
I utterly adore the album and also I want her so it’s a 99
DAMN I WANNA FUCK MY COMPUTER FORREAL
And not only for blessing my ears with this incredibly fun and bombastic production and endearing songwriting, but also because Ninjirachi was right. The only thing that gets me is my computer.
Thank you Ninji from Super Mario Bros. 2 for such an incredible album
GOING THRU THE /MU/ ESSENTIALS #10: THE VELVET UNDERGROUND
I listened to this a while ago and it was honestly a good time. Shame that anyone who listens to this is a stupid little beta cuck
Honestly I really don’t have too much to say about this album aside from the fact it’s good, like this shit is a grilled cheese sandwich to me, I don’t have many adjectives to praise it, nor does it particularly stand out very spectacularly to me, but it’s great! At least it’s ... read more
WE'RE SO BACK but it was never over.
Weirdly enough I like this about equally as his previous single, but I also really liked End Of Summer so maybe that's why. But goddamn does it feel good to get some pure unadulterated Kevin Parker right now this shit is fucking gas, getting heavy Lonerism vibes from this one
I need a bullet put into my fucking head with a gun in real life
Holy fuck. I genuinely do not remember this fuckass album being this bad. Like genuinely just completely vapid, tasteless, overly theatrical and Caucasian garbage.
I genuinely had to start skipping tracks, (which by the way, is something I haven’t had to do in months!) such that I could even attempt to make it to the end of this album without having a conniption.
For the record, not only did I re-listen to this before ... read more
me when I create the most flawless, soul-touching, ball-tickling chorus ever put to music and I decide to attach the worst rap verses written by man
Tame Impala is a band. Haha just kidding! Well not really. But did you, within your almighty and unending fabric of knowledge and wisdom, ever consider the fact that it was actually just one guy? Kevin Parker, specifically! He’s from Australia which is a country that exists in case you didn’t know. What? Oh where you wanna sit? Oh yeah the corner is fine. His fourth studio album, The Slow Rush, is one of my favorite projects of his. It’s actually a concept album about time. ... read more
KING TONKA KING TONKA (WHAAAT?)
after the disappointing LYFESTYLE, i really thought Yeat's 2093 was a fluke in his discography, a singular instance where he decided to really go ahead and try before returning to what he's used to. but when i saw the way this project was being recieved, better than 2093 even, i was suddenly excited again to see if Yeat could keep up an artistic evolution and boy oh boy did he pull it off. this, in my opinion, is by far the best trap album of the 2020s ... read more
BIRTHDAY REVIEW FOR @AtlanticPeanuts everybody say happy birthday atlanticpeanuts
WHEN I GROW UP I WANNA BE NOTHING AT ALL 🗣️
yeah I get it, and I’ve been asleep this whole time before listening to this to be honest. black parade is a masterclass of punk rock and honestly the rock genre in general. I can’t really chose a highlight because every song genuinely brought something new, engaging, and awe-striking to the table.
I will say my favorite part about this album is ... read more
definitely worth the wait. I was a bit scared at first because in my humble opinion the first song was some dog ass but the rest of the album MORE than made up for it.
my highlights (aside from the singles) are “crashin’ out at my desk” which is an incredible rapping performance by Gold, EGO which is an incredibly surprising sound to hear on a Marigold track but was a legit banger and had a great feature by Sayitaintporsh to boot, and MR. NOBODY which interpolated the ... read more
I’ve already reviewed the reissue of this album, but I wanted to write another one as Ziad Rahbani recently passed on July 26
this album is by far the best album to come out of the Levantine region, one I've lived in my whole life, in my opinion and is nothing but musical genius, “Nafs Al Sheghlat” (The Same Things) is one of the best songs ever composed.
RIP legend, no one will ever come close to the things Rahbani accomplished here
Luca Maxiim is by far my favorite content creator on Instagram and one of my favorite in general. It’s probably my affinity for weird, surreal shit, but his videos are all fucking works of art (and far and away the best use of AI ever and it’s not close.)
For context, Luca produces satire content following the lore of Azerbaijan Technology, a fake company within a surreal world that parodies famous media/trends and genuinely delves deep into various different cultures in order to ... read more
the only reason this is a 94 is because AOTY users can relate to losing hair at 16
this is a good album, and I don’t want anyone to read this review as me disliking it in any way. But this album to me does not nearly have the consistent highs or constantly entertaining, surprising, and awe-striking factors that an album of this caliber should have, at least with this user score.
Vanisher, Horizon Scraper has a lot of beautiful soundscapes and singing, and is a genuinely really ... read more
tame impala reimagined as house & techno by techcrow
that melodic vocal “do it” sections that appear in the middle and end of the song are a bit too pool music for me but otherwise this song is fucking sick, really happy to see kev doing shit he likes
uhhh… are we hearing the same album??
so out of nowhere tyler, the creator announced a surprise album “don’t tap the glass”, a collection of what are supposed to be fun, stupid tracks that are supposed to be listened to with three rules. body movement, keep your baggage at home, and don’t tap the glass, whatever that means.
regardless, I through up this album while making sure I was actively standing up and moving and on some braggadocios shit. and honestly, ... read more
