the bass feels random, the solos feel misplaced, the instrumentation is plain, and really, all it has going for it is a sense of flow and some good performances (but that's pretty easy to achieve with the rate of the music i'm listening to). i'm just left asking myself, what story is being told? what emotion is this evoking? what musicality can i injest? what direction are we headed? and i have no response for those questions. it's just not pleasing.
