This one felt like more of a comedy take of the first album to me with some of the interludes and even songs. There was a lot of world building within the lyrics that were both necessary and unnecessary. The beats sound similar and it keeps that style of sound mixing to make those space/aliens sounds like the original album, but the impact and oomfh just isn’t really there on this one. That being said there is still some great songs on the album that are worth a listen, but comparing one ... read more
Pretty solid artistic album with a clear theme on the future. Can really appreciate the lyricism and the futuristic ties to current events that were talked about in the time. Love the bit about soup used to being only a nickel. It’s a fun listen to that is quite long, but worthwhile
Favorite song on the album: Madness (great lyricism and beat that just sounds good all the way through.)
Runner up: Mastermind
Midwest EMOOOOOOOO! It was a pretty great album to listen to. Electric guitar shines for me especially when it chills out. Got some serious chilling vibes on this one accompanied by classic emo rock style too which I can appreciate. The vocals are classic 2000s emo style which sounds good to me pretty consistently.
Favorite song on the album: Round Trip Kamikaze (so peak not really much else to say. Lyrics and melody are at their best on this one for sure.
Holy hate train. This album ain’t as bad as the reviews say in my opinion. I have listened to this in the past before, but now with better understanding of music than high-school me this is a banger album. The mix of nu-metal and grunge makes for just an awesome listen. Honestly a very emotional album for Staind as well which adds to each of the songs making them better with every listen. I’m still decently new to nu-metal and grunge listening wis so it could just be lack of dipping ... read more
Probably some of the best lyricism I have heard in a hot minute. There’s a shit ton of emotion in this and it’s a lot to unpack that you can’t just listen to once. Fiona’s vocals are amazing and probably are at their peak here with the range she can truly hit. The instrumentals are less mainly with piano and drums which are fantastic on the album. Drums were deeply missed as I didn’t hear them as a bigger focal point since like album 1 or 2. So many individual ... read more
