Boldy James & Antt Beatz - Hommage
40

The trap beats on here are pretty underwhelming even for trap standards. "Himothy Mcveigh" is a banger though.

Boldy James - Token of Appreciation
75

After a couple of mid/uninteresting albums from Boldy, he returns to his usual self on this album with Chuck Strangers. His production is pretty solid throughout, but it doesn't do all that much to stand out.

6LACK - LOVE IS THE NEW GANGSTA
65

To be honest, I was underwhelmed a little bit from this album. Some of the tracks are kind of generic R&B that don't really stand out or stick to me. There are plenty of tracks where 6LACK discusses more mature tracks and are pleasant on the ears. I don't really care much for most of the features like Young Thug or 2 Chainz, but Odeal was pretty good and kind of steals the spotlight from 6LACK on the song.

Huda Mustafa - Bad Girls
30

Her singing's good, but that's about the only good thing going on here. The production is pretty bland and the songwriting is boring. After the first chorus, you pretty much know what the rest of the song will be about and can just move on with your day.

Lil Shine - Get Rich Or Die Sippin'
30

I decided to check this album out since I saw a lot of praise for it on here only to be disappointed as soon as I heard obnixous, autotone-heavy rapping and singing. "Forever" has a dope beat, but Lil Shine's terrible singing paired with the autotune just absolutely turns me off and prevents me from enjoying the song. The beats aren't all that impressive either just being some average or below average plugg beats. The only songs that I managed to midly enjoy were "Like ... read more

BNYX® - GENESIS FM
70

This was surprisingly enjoyable that I wasn't expecting from BNYX. His electronic inspired beats were pretty fun for the most paired with some trap and hip hop beats as well. Some of the feature choices paired nicely with these beats like Ledbyher, Clara La San, Kid Cudi, and even Quavo surprisingly. The last four tracks on the album are a little uninteresting with some of the weaker beats and the features not really doing all that much to add value to the tracks.

Drake - ICEMAN
40

This is easily the best of the three albums he dropped, though the other two were pretty bad. The album does contain some solid tracks and rapping performances like "Make Them Cry," "Whisper My Name," "National Treasures," "Plot Twist," and "2 Hard 4 The Radio," it also contains a lot of filler albums that makes it feel a little bloated. Drake also comes with a lot of corny and amateur-ish bars that leaves me underwhelmed and there's too ... read more

Deante' Hitchcock - Junkie in The Sun
85

I first heard of Deante' Hitchcock back in 2020 with his song "How TF", but I never kept up with his releases. I came across this one on Twitter and decided to check it. This is one of the most consistent rap albums so far with catchy hooks and creative songwriting to bring out the concept the album is shooting for.

Drake - MAID OF HONOUR
15

This is just terrible stuff. I don't care if this was just for the girls or made for the club this is just absolute dog shit. Drake's singing is terrible, the features suck (except for Popcaan who was okay), and the songwriting comes off as immature especially since it's coming from an almost 40 year old grown man. Also, WHY TF IS SEXYY REDD INTERPOLATING THE CHA CHA SLIDE??!!

Drake - HABIBTI
20

This one's better than MAID OF HONOUR, but that's not really a high bar to reach. Drake's singing sounds terrible, corny or just downright bad bars that add nothing to value, and terrible features cook up whatever this is supposed to be.

Lykke Li - The Afterparty
50

Pretty bland indie/alt-pop music with nothing that makes you want to come back to it. Only song worth listening to is Lucky Again.

The Lemon Twigs - Look for Your Mind!
76

First time listening to a Lemon Twigs album after hearing their feature on Thundercat's latest release. Now, I have never listened to any pop or rock music from the 60s and 70s, but after hearing this album imagine this what it would sound like. The singing is nice and the lyrics are pretty solid, but the instrumentals can become a bit one note for the most part. The best songs on here are definitely the ones where they get a little creative with their sound.

Action Bronson - PLANET FROG
75

A solid release from Action Bronson and probably one of my cozier listening experiences so far. He's pretty consistent throughout the album with some nice rhymes and funny references in his lyrics. I thought the features were nice fits on the songs they appear on.

AZ - Doe Or Die III
73

Solid outing from AZ that shows he still has it. If you're an AZ or regular boom bap fan, then you'll slightly enjoy this album a bit. I do think some of the mixing could've been better throughout the album.

Evan Fong - speed
73

For Evan's first time dropping an album, it's pretty solid. I think some of the sounds he uses on here fit hom nicely and the vocals are pretty nice even though I was expecting him to sound like how he does in his YouTube videos. I wasn't that big on some of the choruses throughout the album, so that really doesn't help catch my ear. This is a solid debut to start off with and it does inspire some hope in me for his future music where hopefully he can perfect his sound and ... read more

Kacey Musgraves - Middle of Nowhere
60

I don't know man. Maybe it's because this is the first country album I've listened to since I started following music recently, but this just seems bland to me. There are some decent instrumentals on here and her singing is solid, but nothing much stands out to me. I know that there was going to be some Mexican music elements in the album, but really it's just some accordion playing on like three songs, though I guess it does help add some flavor to the album.

Three 6 Mafia - Mystic Stylez
80

It took a few listens, but the album finally managed to click with me. Off the bat, I know their debut album was influential as their sound is still evident in today's music that runs in their lane. I tried comparing their take on horrorcore with Gravediggaz's "6 Feet Deep", so maybe that's why I didn't entirely enjoy the album on first listen. Now I know that was a mistakes since that album also had boom bap and east coast hip hop elements compared to the southern ... read more

Isaiah Rashad - IT'S BEEN AWFUL
77

Isaiah Rashad has always been able to express his personal hardships and vulnerability at a good level and he continues to showcase that in more of a laid back delivery on the album. That delivery and the topics he talks about provides the album with consistency and cohesiveness throughout the record's 54 minute runtime with the production complimenting them very well. At the same time, he does sort of make the album redundant with his previous works and provides a less memorable ... read more

Beastie Boys - Ill Communication
60

I'm not gonna lie man this album just doesn't hit all that much for me. I'm not a fan of them distorting their voices on some tracks, I'm not really impressed by their MCing, and I just don't care for the instrumental only songs.

Shoreline Mafia - BIDNESS IS BOOMIN
59

If you've listened to Shoreline Mafia before, then you already know what you're gonna get every time from them. Tracks 3 to 7 are pretty catchy with their production and flows. The first two tracks and the last one are easily skips though.
