Radiohead - The Bends

This is peak Radiohead to me. It feels like they finally solidified the “Radiohead sound” on this album. Crazy atmospheric songs like Planet Telex, Nice Dream, Bullet Proof, and Street Spirit(One of the best closers of any rock album I’d say). Super rockin’ songs like The Bends, Bones, Just, My Iron Lung, Sulk, and Black Star. Then the two back to back acoustic songs High and Dry and Fake Plastic Trees. There’s a very nice variety between fun rock-out songs and ... read more

Radiohead - High & Dry / Planet Telex

Already two of my favorite songs off The Bends. High and Dry is an absolute classic and Planet Telex continues to blow me away every time I listen to it. Maquiladora and Killer Cars are also super awesome songs. I had heard Maquiladora before while watching the live at the Astoria 1994 video, but the studio version sounds absolutely incredible. Killer Cars is a nice rockin’ tune like a lot of the songs on The Bends and I really dig it. I think the remixes of Planet Telex are a pretty nice ... read more

Radiohead - My Iron Lung

This EP absolutely rules. This feels like Radiohead finally coming into their own and fully developing their sound. My Iron Lung has always been a personal favorite song of mine. Lewis(Mistreated) is similarly rockin' and energetic and I love it for that. I love the more atmospheric songs too like Punchdrunk Lovesick Singalong and Permanent Daylight. The Trickster is a really nice blend of atmospheric and rockin' too. And the two acoustic songs, Lozenge of Love and You Never Wash up ... read more

Radiohead - Pablo Honey

I've always heard a lot of negative things about this album but it really surprised me. I really like all of the songs on here. All of the songs that were originally on Drill sound incredible here, but I find myself wishing that Thinking About You kept the up tempo energy it had on Drill. It brings the energy down nicely right before Anyone Can Play Guitar though. I also find myself really enjoying Ripcord, Vegetable, and the new version of Prove Yourself. This version of Blow Out is a ... read more

Radiohead - Anyone Can Play Guitar
90

I think this is a really dope single. I'm really loving how Radiohead kept embracing a more noisy and chaotic sound on their early stuff. Anyone Can Play Guitar has a nice contrast between the crazy verses and really catchy and pretty chorus. Faithless, the Wonder Boy brings the energy down pretty nicely and the transition into Coke Babies is really cool. Coke Babies really surprised me too with how insane the chorus is. I think it would fit right in on The Bends with how cool and ... read more

Radiohead - Creep EP

Creep was the first Radiohead song I ever heard and I've always really liked it. Starting your second EP with arguably one of the best alt-rock songs ever is insane, and the other songs all hold up really well. I was surprised at how similarly noisy and chaotic the other songs are. Million Dollar Question and Blow Out are for sure my other two favorites besides Creep. My only gripe is that I wish the guitars were as loud as they are on Creep on the rest of the EP. Million Dollar Question ... read more

Radiohead - Drill

This is a surprisingly nice start to the career of a great band. If I was a British kid in '92 and heard this I totally would try to go to one of their shows. I can definitely hear little bits of what Radiohead would become in this, and the songs are just great in general.

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
100

This album is actual perfection. Third Eye Blind is one of those alternative bands that kinda just does whatever they want and hopes it works, and by golly does it work. Every song is full of infectious energy from the bands performances. It helps too that all the songs are just plain amazing, and catchy as hell. Easily one of the best alternative albums of all time.

Fountains of Wayne - Welcome Interstate Managers
90

I always loved the first 3 songs on this album but never gave the rest of it a chance. I have to say this is just as good as their first album to me. The cleaner production really suits the songs, and there's a nice amount of variety as well. All Kinds of Time and Supercollider sound like they would fit right in on an Oasis album. It's still quintessential Fountains of Wayne though.

Spacehog - The Chinese Album
80

Like the Beatles but if they were bitchin' and rockin'. Spacehog still continue to deliver the goods on this album. Mungo City is the all time banger of this album for me, but the rest is still awesome. I like that they weren't afraid to experiment on this album, but yet they feel a lot more comfortable and focused with their sound at the same time.

Spacehog - Resident Alien
80

The spiritual successor to Ziggy Stardust we never knew we needed. A very nice and rockin first album from Spacehog. In the Meantime is an all time banger, and the rest of the album holds up very nicely to me. Super glam and Bowie inspired and I love them for that.
