While I am a huge fan of everything neutral milk hotel and by proxy Jeff Mangum has done this album is much different than they're sophomore album "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" a few tracks being purely music with no lyrics is a mild gripe but I don't mind it as an artistic statement and while songs like 'Songs Against Sex' and 'Naomi' absolutely shine on this album other lesser tracks like the 13 minute 'Pree sister swallowing a donkeys eye' weigh down the album but that said I ... read more

An absolute classic in noise rock and shoegaze with great track after great track with hits like only shallow, when you sleep, come in alone and blown a wish this is a must listen to album along with my bloody Valentines other album titled "MBV" their both must listens
This album genuinely changed my life, I've never listened to album that has such raw yet artfully confusing lyrics Neutral Milk Hotel's "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" is not music it is art it makes you feel every emotional at once, it makes you laugh, cry, smile whatever but i cannot give my praises enough to this album Jeff Mangum along with his bandmates come together to make what in my opinion is the greatest album of all time
